The dining hall of the palace was a chattering affair around 10 in the morning. Rows of dining tables on which Samaira's relatives were seated having breakfast. Rajveer and Samaira were seated with her family at one table where he had humbly eschewed sitting on the head of the house seat and coaxed Yashwant to take it. Apart from showing his father-in-law respect, his other motive was to sit right beside his wife because he simply couldn't stay away from her. Not for even a meal.
“So Jiju, where are you taking Di for honeymoon ?”
Natasha's question had Samaira choking on the strawberry juice and his lips curved into a mischievous smile.
“Wherever your Di will like to go.” - he replied Natasha but his eyes were on his wife.
Samaira smiled at him, before turning to her family who all looked at her expectantly.
“Actually... we have not decided that yet. Also, I'm thinking to join back office in a couple of days so...” - she smiled apologetically.
His smile dimmed. She had not told him about that. It was not like he had any issue with her joining back office but she could have at least discuss with him beforehand.
Sonia frowned disapprovingly. “Mairooo... office so soon ? You have just gotten married honey. You should give your time to Rajveer.”
“It's alright Mom. Samaira discussed it with me beforehand and I have no issues.” - he assured her with a smile.
Samaira's head turned to him in surprise. In an instant, she realized her mistake. His eyes were not warning, but definitely hurt. And her own heart gave a sharp pang at that.

“...I'm not giving suggestions. It's. An. Order.”
Samaira heard him on call as she walked into the room around 12. He sounded angry, and she felt like somehow, it was her anger that he was lashing out on someone else.
“I want it done by evening. And you know when I want something done, I want it done.”
Goosebumps raised over her body. His angry, threatening tone was so sexy.
‘Gosh, now is not the time!’ - she mentally groaned.
He cut the call and turned around, only to pause at her sight. He looked at her for a moment before walking forward and passing by her.
But her hand shot out to hold his forearm and stop him. His head turned and their eyes locked.
There was that intensity again. The possessive and dominating look in his eyes. But it was mixed with anger and hurt at the moment and the combination was so deadly that she felt like burning.
“You don't want me to join back the office ?” - she asked, her voice a touch above a whisper as they were standing close.
“Does it matter ?” - he asked instead, his voice just as quiet.
“It does.” - she replied in a heartbeat, surprising him.
“Really ?” - he raised a brow.
“Really. If you'll ask me to not join back, then I won't.” - she answered honestly.
His other eyebrow shot up as well and a hope dawned in his eyes. “Why ?” - he asked softly.
“Because that's what a good wife does.” - she said.
And just like that, the hurt returned to his eyes but the anger was gone.
“A good wife.” - he huffed out a sad chuckle. Gently taking her hand off his arm, he stepped away. “Join back if you want Samaira. You are not bound to behave as a ‘good wife’.” - he said calmly and left the room.
