Rajveer was seated on the sofa, laptop in his lap and was typing furiously on it when two arms curled around his neck from behind. His lips curved into a soft smile when he felt warm breath over his left ear.
“I have brought your anniversary gift.” - Samaira whispered in his ear.
One year had completed to their marriage and a grand anniversary party was being held in the palace at night.
Hearing her statement, his smile widened and closing the laptop, he placed it on the table. He untangled her arms around his neck and brought her to the front before making her sit in his lap, making sure that she was comfortable and her baby bump didn't make her uneasy. His expressions softened as he rested his palm on her four and a half months older baby bump before meeting her eyes.
His heart skipped beats. Just like first time he had seen her. The way she had shook him by his collar. The audacity, the daring. They really had come a long way.
“Enlighten me please...” - he whispered mischievously.
He already had decided on her gift and had planned to make her aware of it after the party. But due to her mood swings, she had been persistent he tell her right that instant else she won't eat anything. He had given up and handed her over the keys of Audi RS Q8 which she had instantly loved a week ago in an advertisement on YouTube. Her excitement had matched a child's afterwards but in another wind of mood swing, she had pouted right after that his gift was so perfect she would need to think hard in deciding hers.
“Make a guess...” - she teased, wrapping her arms around his neck.
He bit his lip at the shine in her eyes. She had went out on shopping with Natasha, saying she was going to get his anniversary gift. Now on return, she looked mightily pleased with herself. An extremely satisfied smile on her glowing face that intrigued him.
Her smile turned into a grin and she leaned closer, rubbing her nose with his.
“I went to the hospital and got to know the gender of the baby.” - she whispered.
His heartrate doubled and eyes widened.
“You wanted little Samaira and I wanted little Rajveer right ?” - she reminded him softly, her nails gently scratching his scalp.
Since the day they had found they were going to be parents, the frequent argument — healthy — between them was that he wanted a daughter first and she wanted a son first which always ended in them making love again and leaving the rest to destiny before the cycle continued.
“Since I'm facing most of the hardships, so God has decided to grant me my wish.” - she told him smugly and he grinned.
“So it's a boy.” - he said and her face nearly split into half with such a huge smile.
He was mesmerized. She looked to be so pleased that he could do anything to keep her that way. Always and forever.
“You will be an amazing mother.” - he stated softly and her smile softened.
“And you, an amazing father.” - her tone was tender yet certain. Full of conviction that tugged at his heart.
His eyes closed seconds before she kissed him. A year into the marriage yet whenever their lips met, he felt like it was for the first time. His mind melted, heartbeat escalated, and every fiber of his being came to life exactly like the first time she had held him by the collar and smashed her lips on his.
Breathing heavily, they pulled apart and stared at each other. His heart soaring at the ocean of love in her eyes. Certain and wild. Just for him.
She caressed his cheek, his light stubble distracting her momentarily while her teeth held her lower lip captive.
