Natasha felt scared as she walked in the dark and desolate street at half past 9 in the night. The further she moved ahead, the darker it got. She was asked to come to a building that was under construction and totally empty at night. As she rounded a corner, she stumbled upon a car which was barely visible in the darkness but when her phone's torchlight hit the person who was calmly leaned against the bonet, her heart sank.
“Jiju...”
Rajveer crossed his arms, his expressions neutral, but didn't say anything.
“Wh-what are you doing here ?” - Natasha asked, her voice stuttering.
“I can ask you the same.” - he said calmly.
“I uh... I-I...” - her stuttering increased as she searched for excuses but it was nearly impossible to lie to his face. His personality had it, intimidating and powerful, that made anyone think twice before lying to him.
He uncrossed his arms, straightening up, and slowly walked towards her.
“You know, I was notified of a cash withdrawal of ten millions from my bank account in the afternoon. And it would not have bothered me, since I knew it's you, if Liam had not spotted you outside the bank looking quite distressed.”
Her eyes widened. His head guard had seen her ?
“So he called me and I asked him to keep an eye on you. After all, I should be knowing what is my sister upto ?” - he raised a brow, his tone not stern but definitely serious. “What is it Nuts ? What's bothering you ? Why are you here of all places at this hour of the night with a bag full of money ?”
Tears burned her eyes and she broke into sobs. The bag of money dropped from her hands as she covered her face and cried. He pulled her in a warm, brotherly hug and tried to calm her down.
“I told you that your brothers are always there for you Nuts. You forgot so soon ?” - he asked in a soothing tone.
She sniffled and pulled back, hiccuping as well. He took her inside his limousine and offered her water.
“Relax. Take a breath and tell me what's the problem ?” - he asked softly, and looked at her encouragingly.
She clutched the water bottle in both hands and looked down. Not having the courage to meet eyes with him.
“Last month, there was a fashion show held for aspiring models. I went to give an audition. Everything was fine then. But on the day of your and Di's reception, I received messages from an unknown number.” - her voice thickened here and she swallowed audibly.
He patiently waited and gave her the time she needed.
“The messages were basically my... my... nude photos from the trial room where I had changed.” - she said and broke into tears again.
His jaw clenched as he understood the entire story at once.
“He demanded money and threatened to leak the photos if I didn't take him seriously. I had no other option Jiju. I was helpless...” - she choked in between sobs.
He made her drink some more water and asked to relax. “Why didn't you tell me or anyone in the family ?” - he gently inquired.
“Because I was ashamed. I didn't have the courage to face you or anybody else.” - she whispered, looking at her lap.
He sighed. “Nuts... when you have done nothing wrong, then why are you ashamed ? You are not at fault. It's people like that blackmailer who are at fault! Who need to be taught a lesson and trust me, they will be taught a lesson.” - his tone was as promising as his words that made her look up.
