Miles had cracked open the safe. "Yea Unc I got it, I'm bout to head out"
"Aight, so hurry up and grab it," Aaron snapped through Miles' earpiece. Though Miles is an accomplice to Aaron, the 18 year old is still his flesh and blood. He doesn't want to put his nephew in harm's way, yet their criminal actions are supporting their lifestyle.
Miles had taken a job for Simon Krieger, the current leader for the Roxxon Energy Corporation. Miles was tasked with breaking and entering a closed down Oscorp Facility. It was rumored that this particular facility had a sample of OZ formula hidden in a safe. It's been a few weeks since the OZ explosion; an explosion that indirectly created the Green Goblin and Doc Ock.
OZ formula was Norman Osborn's key to remaking the super soldier serum; a serum that created Captain America. Norman's only excuse for creating a dangerous serum was for credit and the U.S Military. There have been plenty of attempts to recreate the chemical weapon, and they've all gone wrong. Maybe it was his hubris, but the failed attempts did not stop Osborn from his goal. In fact, he'd attempted to take the serum himself. During the experiment, the chemical became unstable due to the excessive positive charge. The excess neutrons and protons broke the outer shells of the atoms creating a radioactive explosion.
Krieger had to get his hands on this sample. After all, analyzing and reconstructing its molecules might be the key to his own super soldiers. When it comes to super villains, hubris becomes the primary roadblock to success. But in a world where there is no Spiderman, these villains have more leeway to make detrimental decisions.
The OZ explosion indirectly created what we now know as the Sinister Six. Led by Doc Ock, the remaining five members are Electro, Rhino, Vulture, Scorpion, and Minster Negative. Though there are other heroes and villains in the timeline, the Sinister Six has begun an unstoppable cartel across all of New York. Other heroes and villains have their own desired territories, ultimately leaving New York defenseless.
For Miles, this is the perfect situation. There are a few heroes that reside in New York, but with the amount of brute force and technology criminals have, that isn't enough to stop the underworld. Miles is providing for his family by committing these heinous crimes. His mother, Rio, constantly works double shifts at the hospital and is still living paycheck to paycheck. In actuality, Rio was never given a proper chance to mourn the loss of her husband. Rio had to step up as Miles' only parent and provide for him. Miles has nothing but love and respect for his mother. In fact, he could reason that he is in the business for her. He wants her to live a fulfilling life without having to work herself to the bone.
Contrary to his caring intentions, the bottomline comes to who he is. Miles has become selfish, apathetic, and greedy. Miles is at the point where he is making big money. It would be smart for him to stop with his Prowler alias, but why would he do that? Miles has a constant check, he does whatever he wants, he's taking revenge on the world, and living the life he has always wanted. Why do you think Rio doesn't know? Rio is all about living a virtuous, honest life just as much as Jefferson was. If she found out that Miles was the Prowler, she would still unconditionally love her son, but it would break her heart. Who knows what would happen.
