Saturday at noon
Omniscient POV
It's roughly been a week and a half since Miles' spontaneous date. The couple had made time to see each other, but Christmas was approaching. Miles was honest with Kori about his boxing matches and even spoke to him a few times 'between matches'. Miles was caught up in his work with the Sinister Six given that Fisk was currently satisfied with his work. Fisk allowed his henchman time off for the holidays.
Unfortunately, it's the greediness Miles had not gotten a handle over as he took a few jobs from the Sinister Six. It's not like Kori cared much at the moment, she was too caught up with Ms. Rio and her mom with plans. They had planned to throw a large party for the holidays and needed help with decorations and cooking. On top of that, Kori still had to go Christmas shopping.
Kori was currently at the store face-timing with Rio and Tamera. The two were still at work, but took a break to guide Kori on Christmas decorations. "Oh, I like that ornament. Pick that one up so that we can put it on the tree, hermosa." Rio exclaimed. Kori tried her best not to be overwhelmed. She grabbed as many decorations as needed, and carried it to Rio's place. To ensure the party would go over well, Rio gave Kori a key to her place.
Miles was sleeping in when he heard the front door close. Hearing ruckus, he shot up out of his bed. His mom was at work and he wasn't expecting anyone. He put his prowler nanotech on his chest, ready to use, and went to see who was 'breaking in.'
He slowly creeped into the living room and saw Kori struggling to put bags on the counter. He ran over and helped her with the bags. "Ma, whatchu doing here?" Miles' voice was still groggy. Kori huffed, "your mom, my mom, holidays."
Kori was fed up with the holiday arrangements. Miles reassures her, "two more days and it's over with. Get some rest." They walk into his room to lay down.
Christmas Day
Miles' POV
I was rushing back to the apartment for the Christmas party that was going on right now. I was supposed to be there at five, but it's roughly six. It's been easy to convince Kori of my 'boxing matches,' but my mom ain't having it. I rushed onto the roof and quickly turned my back to my mom walking into the crowd. "Dang, Miles. You're all grown up. I like your braids." I pass family members looking for Kori, responding to them.
"Thanks man."
"Hola"
"It's been a while"
I see Kori in my line of vision and head towards her. "Oye!" My mom popped right in front of me. "Hola, ma." I look at her unfazed. "¿Por qué llegas tarde? You had a specific time to be here. You know, some of Korinna's family members are here too. I need you to be bien educado." Already annoyed, I made a slick comment. "Is that spanglish?"
