Miles' POV

"What was it about keeping me safe?"

My eyes widened at Korinna. I had no words at the moment. She sat there and smiled at me while I was trying to make sense of the situation.

"I see you can't find your words. Let's talk real quick." Kori's mask closed and she descended. After following her a while back, I realized we were headed into that same abandoned underground pathway. She let go and I retracted my mask.

Being forced into a moment of vulnerability pissed me off. I felt myself reverting back to defense mode. All of the poisonous behaviors I reformed began to crack through. "The fuck you doing, Kori?" My hand were in fists. If it wasn't for my gauntlets, my nails would be digging in my palms. I'm losing trust in her. Going to this extreme is stupid.

"What did I say the last time? I'm strong and I will get stronger. I wasn't playing." She pressed the button on the suit just like I do mine. She was left in her black cat suit. She had a new look. She wore dark makeup and had a pixie cut. She wore her face of pride. Seeing her like that caused emotions to stir through my body. I felt hubris, manipulative, controlling. It all came forth.

I found out that being supportive, changing, and avoiding mistakes with her wasn't working. I was too focused on not hurting her the last time and she took it too far. I was being soft. I lowered my head thinking about my words. Korinna is stupid. The only way I thought was to break her down.

"Kori, I have a habit of shutting people out. You would know. Nobody understands the amount of pain I went through. You've gone through pain too. You're acting like an idiota though." I forced my words on her.

"A moron? Would an idiot steal all five drives? I did it without you!" She got defensive with me. I saw that she was looking for approval. I could see it in her eyes. I need to shut that shit down.

"Bro, you trippin. You want a cookie?" I spoke with sarcasm. I took it up a notch and slowly clapped in front of her face.

Her eyes glossed over, but I kept going. "You needed advanced gear to get the shit done. What? You and Phin are friends now? You stooped that low?" I put my hands in my pocket shrugging my shoulders. I looked down at her with a lopsided smile. Her eyes teared up. "Phin would know. Women who follow me in this path of crime don't end up in the best situation. You wanna be like her?" I tilted my head at her.

"To be honest I helped you. I was gonna kill Phin after finding out she told you everything, but I wanted to change for you! And because Phin is alive, I helped the birth of Black Cat. Therefore I control the situation. You're done with it." I went on a rant. I intended to hurt her feelings. I couldn't think of a way to productively change her mind.

"Why are you doing that?" Kori spoke quietly. Her face was twisted with hurt and confusion.

I rolled my eyes so she could clearly see it. "Doing what? Telling you the truth?"

She looked down and sniffled a bit. I dryly chuckled at her. "Aww...What's wrong little kitty?" I taunted her. Under my breath I continued, "puta."

As quick as I spoke, Kori punched me in the face. I spat blood on the ground. "Here you go again, Miles. The cold-hearted persona you run to when you don't know what to do. That shit is weak." Her face was plastered with anger and betrayal. "Stop switching back and forth from sweet to sour. Pick one!" She yelled at me. I remained calm to provoke her.

"Why do you want to beat me so bad? Ok, Korinna you can fight! Good job! Now put that shit away!" I mocked her. The way I spoke, I danced around with my words.
