Chapter 10

"This doesn't make any sense," William says at last breaking the awkward silence that occupied the room.

Olivia and her family has joined us for lunch and we were all sat at the dining table eating silently. After William came home, I told him about the ring and the note but left out the part where my heart told me I knew that ring. I just didn't feel right to share it at this moment and I don't think that's an important thing to know anyway.

When Olivia's husband called her up, she asked him to come over to my place after he picked John up from school. We all needed a serious discussion about this mystery man who is trying to ruin everything for me.

"Guys," I start, "You do know that 10 days have passed already of this month right?" my voice shaky.

"C'mon baby, don't tell me you're actually falling for this man who's trying to fuck with us," William says with a tone of irritation.

"But William, it's not like we can ignore whatever if happening right? At this point, everyone has no choice but to be scared," Olivia says thoughtfully.

"Yes, and I'm getting eager as days pass about what that man wants me to know," I say dropping my fork on the plate. I have lost my appetite already.

"You guys are insane," William says and continues to eat. I crease my eyebrows thinking why would he say something like that? Does he really want something bad to happen or does he want to wait until a month is over to find out what happens? Whatever it is, I wasn't up for it.

"Will, all we're trying to say here is what's the harm in going to Oklahoma and just see what this man wants me to see? Besides, mom is there, nothing bad would happen," I say annoyed.

"We're not going anywhere," William says coldly.

"Okay... I think we're done here," Olivia says getting up from her seat. "I need to go home, I've work to do. I'll call you later," she says smiling.

These memories; these dreams; these headaches which I've never gotten before were starting to bother me a lot. I feel like tearing my hair apart sometimes due to endless frustration. I haven't done bad to anyone then why was I being suffered? Moreover, why after thirteen years of my marriage, this person decided to contact me?

I look at the sleeping Sara, her breathing quiet and swallow. For me, she also has to go through the things she wasn't supposed to. She was supposed to start her school this year, come home every day, whining about how good or bad her day was and how much homework she has to do; but everything is ruined for that bloody man!

"Rachelle?" I hear William call out. I turn slowly to face towards the door to see him standing by the half-opened door. I sigh before I kiss Sara on the forehead and get up from her bed, making my way to William.

I walk past him and hear him close the door of Sara's room. I make my way to the living room and sit on the couch, sighing. I felt exhausted; like I was locked up in some sort of a box. So many odd things are happening around me but I can't do anything about them; only sit and observe. This is the first time I saw William getting a little heated up about something that I wanted to do. He never interfered in anything I did so why was he so keen on not letting me go to Oklahoma?

"I'm sorry honey," William says, putting his hands on my shoulders in an attempt to massage them. "I know my tone was a little rude but I was just trying to explain you that we shouldn't fall into the trap of whoever is trying to fool around with us."
