CHAPTER 1

Picture of William.

        13 years later.

I was preparing breakfast when suddenly, I hear a sound which came from upstairs. Thinking that maybe someone got hurt, I rush upstairs leaving the egg which I was frying on the stove.

I open the door of the kid's room see Keith and Sara jumping around the bed as they threw clothes at each other. They quickly come to stop as soon as they see me, and stand side by side in front of me.

"Didn't I tell you guys to pack up?" I say trying to keep calm.

"Yes mom, but Sara started to throw my clothes everywhere so I started doing the same," Keith says with a frown.

"I'm sorry mommy," Sara quickly says when I look at her.

"Well, now stop messing around and pick your clothes up, I'll pack them up for you," I say and leave the room.

A burning smell hits my nose and I squint my eyes. Oh dear lord, I forgot the eggs on the stove! I quickly run downstairs and turn off the stove. I fill a bowl of water and pour it on the burning pan, causing more smoke in the kitchen. I sigh knowing that my day starts with frustration.

I cough and try clearing the smoke when suddenly William comes and hugs me from behind.

"Good morning, lovely lady," he says cheerfully, putting his cheek to mine.

"What's so good about it?" I say groaning.

"Hmmm, let's see. Maybe my hug?" he says and turns me around.

"Not complimenting it," I say, sticking out my tongue.

He narrows his eyes at me then pulls me into a loving kiss, making me forget all my frustration. Though it's been thirteen years of our marriage, he always made me feel like it's the first day of our relationship. With William, nothing seemed complicated. My life has never been this better.

"Mom! I'm hungry," Keith yells as he enters the kitchen with Sara trailing behind him.

"Well kids, your mommy just burnt down the kitchen so I suppose we cannot have breakfast this morning," William says mocking me.

"I did not burn down the kitchen!" I say exclaiming.

"So how do I explain that to my tummy," Sara says innocently.

William walks to her and picks her up then says, "How about, we eat on our way?"

"Breakfast from outside?!" Sara asks as her face lightens up.

"Anything you ask for," William says making Keith and Sara yell in excitement.

"Okay guys so let's get dressed already," I say and take Sara in my arms while Keith follows.

After three years of marriage, we had to move to Chicago from Oklahoma  due to William's work. Now, after ten years, we need to move again for the same reason. We've been packing our furniture for a week now, and today we were leaving to head for New York. It's a big headache to shift from one city to another but as William worked for a magazine company, and got promoted, we had to move.
