Chapter 4

Picture of Sara.

“I can’t believe you haven’t called me after reaching and it’s been two days now,” Olivia says crossly walking inside the house.

It was 10 in the morning and William has already left for the station. I got a call from Olivia an hour back and she was furious about me not calling her. I just quickly asked her to come over as I thought I could give her a proper explanation face to face but yet she was very angry.

“You’ve said that ten times in a row now,” I say casually following her to the dining room.

“Yes, and I would keep saying it unless you give me a logical explanation why haven’t you called me,” she says crossing her arms across her chest as she sits down on one of the chairs of the dining table.

“I will tell you everything, but first I need you to calm down,” I say taking a seat across her.

“I’m calmed enough. You should be thankful I’m not throwing things at you like a maniac,” she says moodily.

“Who would say you’ve got a four year old son,” I say sarcastically. “Coffee?”

“Wouldn’t mind if I get one,” she says keeping her attitude on.

I walk to the kitchen to grab the kettle where there was left over coffee that William had before he rushed out of the house. I take out two mugs from the cabinet and pour the coffee.

“Still need three sugar cubes?” I call out from the kitchen.

“I’d like it more if you make it four now,” she says back.

I giggle slightly before putting the required amount of sugar in our mugs and walking back to the dining table. I hand her the coffee and she takes it abruptly, yet no smile on her face.

“C’mon, act like you’re happy to see me,” I say whining somewhat.

“Whatever. Where are the kids?” she says taking a sip of her coffee.

“They both are still asleep. They haven’t got enough sleep last night,” I say frowning as I think about whatever happened yesterday.

“I see. So, start your story,” Olivia says carelessly.

“I don’t know where to start. Everything is being messed up,” I sigh and say.

“What do you mean? What’s going on?” Olivia says sounding worried now.

“Well, the first night when we arrived, I got a call from this unknown number and whoever called asked me to go back to Oklahoma,” I start holding my mug with both of my hands.

“That sounds ridiculous,” Olivia says bringing her eyebrows together. “I mean, why would anyone call you and tell that? Moreover, it’s been ten years since you moved out of Oklahoma.”

“That’s what scares me. Some random guy calls me and I have got no idea who he is and how does he know where I grew up,” I say anxiously.

“Didn’t you try tracking down his number?” Olivia asks concernedly.

“That’s the creepy part. When I got the call, I didn’t bother telling William as first I thought it might be a little prank played by someone I knew long time ago, but then yesterday, Keith saw something in the backyard and ever since he has been acting weird; more like as if he wasn’t in control of his own body,” I say desolately.
