"Here's your cappuccino ma'am," says a blonde waitress as she places a shiny black mug in front of me. I force a smile at her before she turns to her heel and leaves.
As I take a sip, I close my eyes and focus on the melodious music playing in the café.
Oh, you make me live,
Whatever this world can give to me,
It's you, you're all I see.
Oh, you make me live now honey.
I could feel the tear forming in my eyes as thoughts of William crosses my mind once again. After all that has been going on, how could he still keep a secret from me, and that too such a huge one? I thought Brian said that Helena Burdett was dead but if she was, who was William talking to?
Was it the same Helena or someone else?
I needed a break from everything and hence I decided to spend some time alone in the café. I did tell Olivia that we needed to talk but she had to get some work done first. Also, today Alex and John were coming back which means Olivia won't be staying at my place any longer.
Another thought hit my head; William mentioned someone named Max, and even though I couldn't recall who he was, I could feel that he has something to do with me from the very beginning. I was becoming unsure of sharing things with Olivia as she could be involved with the Max dude, as William said.
No, why would I even think like that? Olivia has been with me through this all, she couldn't possibly betray me. She's the one I can always rely.
I continue drinking my cappuccino when suddenly it starts pouring outside. Great. Now, I've to wait here till the rain stops as I wasn't carrying an umbrella, neither did I have any wish to get wet.
I sigh and look at my phone. It was 4 in the evening; I feel the day is going extremely slow. The bell rings making me look at the café door and I see Angela walk in. She was partially wet but her dark blue dress didn't make that very visible.
"Rachelle!" she exclaims making her way towards me. I smile getting to my feet as she hugs me.
"Hey, what are you doing here?" I ask as she takes a seat across me.
"Oh, I stopped by your house and no one was there. I tried calling you but I think you don't have signal," she says and I look at my phone again. Yeap, out of network; probably because of the weather.
"So, I called Olivia as she is most likely to know where you'd be. Even though she hesitated, she told me you came here in the café to spend some time alone."
"Why'd she hesitate?" I ask confused.
"I don't know, maybe because she thought you wouldn't want to be disturbed," Angela says casually before calling on a waitress and asking for a cup of black coffee.
When I don't say anything back, Angela asks, "Hey, what's wrong?"
"Nothing really," I try lying as I don't think it's the best time to talk about anything. "Just a bit stressed out."
"Sex is always helpful when stressed out you know," Angela says nonchalantly.
"Yeah, okay, but I'm afraid my husband doesn't have much time for his family."
"It doesn't always have to be the husband," she says mischievously and my playfulness disappears as my mind goes back to the time I slept with Brian. As much as I wished I could wipe out that memory, I couldn't. I practically cheated on my husband and I swear I could rip off my skin if it meant to feel pure again.
