Why do people like wearing high heels? My feet and muscles really hurt right now and I also have to pee so I had to go to the restroom.
After finishing my business, I went to the bar. I checked their menu, and thankfully, they have ice tea, so I placed an order for one and nachos.
The crowd was still getting wild when I headed upstairs. I don't want to go back to the dance floor 'cause I really need to rest my feet. I decided to take a seat on the empty chair by the rails so I could still watch what's going on below.
When I sat down, I immediately felt better. My focus shifted to the people on the other side of the floor as I was observing the place. I thought my clothes were already revealing because of my half-exposed belly, but them? Wow.
One pull from those tied strings on their back, and boobs would be floating around. I don't want to judge 'cause it's rude, but I just can't help it. They look like they want to come here naked but are unable to cause of the dress code.
I took a sip of my ice tea, and watched again the still ongoing performance below. After a while, I was starting to nod off.
It looks like the allergy pill I took earlier is kicking in. Since Kayla won't let me wear my glasses, I have to wear contacts, which makes my eyes more tired. I was about to close my eyes to rest when a woman who was also a guest of the birthday boy came over.
She smiled and said, "Hello. I heard your Asian."
I smiled back and said, "Hi. Yes, I am."
What a weird way to start a conversation.
"I don't know if you noticed me earlier, but I'm friends with the birthday boy. Well, most of the guests, including Benito and Gabriel."
She was the one who kept chatting with Beni earlier. I reached out to shake her hand and said, "I did notice you earlier. Nice meeting you. I'm Mia."
"Oh my! Where are my manners? My name is Carla."
And she didn't shake my hand. I awkwardly put my hand down. I guess she doesn't like to shake hands. That's fine with me. Anyway, I was happy when she stopped talking because I thought she was done, but then she started asking questions.
"So what type of Asian are you? You don't look Chinese to me. Japanese or Korean? Where are you from?"
"I'm Fil-" she cut me off before I could finish answering her question.
"You don't look Asian, though. Your skin is, um, different."
I instinctively looked at my arm. Based on our standards back home, I am in the category of having a light skin tone, but of course, hers is definitely much lighter. I wonder if she's heard of Southeast Asia.
"It just amazes me how you don't have an accent. How did you learn English?"
Umm, in school. Back home, we learn English from pre-school until college. Most of our subjects are taught in English. Okay, I shouldn't judge. Let's give her the benefit of the doubt because she might just be, I guess, uneducated. I wonder if that is the correct term.
I tried correcting her, "Actually-"
"Are you one of those people with immigrant parents?"
"Yes. Yes, they are." I gave up trying to correct her because she obviously doesn't care. Why can't she just tell me the real reason why she approached me?
"I knew it. So, how did you meet Gabby?"
I raised my brows in confusion, "Gabby?"
"Gabriel."
Oh. Is that the reason she started the conversation? I mean, she doesn't have to beat around the bush. She could've just started the conversation with that.
"We met him at the airport in L.A."
"What a coincidence. How about Benito? How did you meet? I noticed earlier that you two look close."
"Well, it just happened, and then one thing led to another."
I wanted to say that it's none of her business, but I'm too nice to say that. I don't want to give too much information. I don't really know her, and I already have the impression that she isn't interested in me but in something else.
"I understand." she said while nodding.
What do you understand? I just want you to leave. Why aren't you leaving?
"I haven't seen those two with Asian girls before. It must have been interesting for them to meet someone like you. It's nice to taste different dishes from time to time, right? There's no reason why they can't."
Ughhhh. I think that was a bit... rude. I simply smiled and nodded.
"Well, it's nice meeting you again, Sia. Sayonara."
And she just said my name wrong and good-bye in Japanese. I sighed in relief when she finally stood up. When she turned around, I saw Beni approaching.
She approached Beni, but he simply ignored her, didn't even give her a glance, and just walked past her. I finally couldn't contain myself when I saw her stamping her feet before walking away.
"What's so funny?" He asked as he sat on the chair next to me.
"Nothing."
He might be good friends with that woman, so it's better not to tell him. He's sweating. It must be because of their earlier performance, and it does feel a bit hot right now.
When I gestured for him to get closer, he pulled his chair over and sat back down. I leaned over to him and wiped the sweat off his face.
"Did you guys planned to perform tonight?" I asked.
"Gracias. Nah, pero mi amigo, the birthday boy asked us to perform." He said as he started eating my nachos.
"Well, it was an awesome impromptu performance." I really had fun earlier. If my feet weren't hurting, I would've continued jumping and dancing with the crowd.
"Where's Kayla?"
I looked down on the dance floor, and I saw her with Gabriel. I smiled. They just look so good together.
"There, on the dance floor. Dancing with Gabriel."
"You look tired. We can leave if you want."
I shook my head in refusal. He's wearing glasses indoors. I'm shocked that he even noticed. Why is he even wearing shades indoors? Can he even see with that thing? I took off his shades.
"It's fine." I tried wearing it, and it's pretty dark. I can barely see anything, but it does help with the club's dazzling lights. He puts his arm around my chair.
I look at him and ask, "How do I look?"
I'm not used to wearing shades, especially cause I have to wear my eyeglasses almost every time. I prefer wearing eyeglasses over contacts.
"Great"
Since I don't have a mirror and my phone is in Kayla's pouch, I couldn't check how I looked. I asked him, "Can I borrow your phone?" and he handed it to me without hesitation after unlocking it.
"Really? You're just going to give me your phone without asking why?"
"Why not?"
He has a point. I opened the camera app and clicked on the front camera. Hmmm. I do look good. I snapped a photo of myself and liked how it turned out. His phone camera is much better than mine.
He also joined me in some of my selfies while I snapped more pictures of myself. When I was done, I sent every photo I had taken to my phone.
He then began rubbing my head and asked, "So, how was your first nightclub experience?"
It's kind of relaxing, to be honest. His rubbing is making me want to lie down and sleep right now.
"Hmmm. It's fun, but I still prefer being at home."
We were talking, and I didn't realize I was leaning into him. There it is again, that scent. His scent is just so relaxing. What cologne is he using? I resisted the urge to sleep but eventually gave in and went to sleep.
