I woke up with a splitting headache.
"Ughhh!" As I struggled to get up, I noticed a note on the nightstand. I picked it up, and it was from Beni informing me that we're at his house.
I'm glad he left a note because I might have freaked out if he hadn't. I yawned as I looked around the unfamiliar room. I looked to my side and saw Kayla still asleep.
My head hurts, and I'm thirsty. I had to force myself to get up. As I left the room, silence greeted me. I took my time going down the flight of stairs, grabbing the handrail for support.
When I finally made it downstairs, I noticed Beni sitting on the couch in the living room, looking at his phone.
He looked up and grinned when he saw me before I could even say his name. He stood up and said, "Buenas tardes" as I approach him.
He tucks my hair behind my ear and asked, "How are you feeling?"
I held his arm for support. "Awful. My head hurts, my whole body hurts, and I literally have to force myself to walk down the stairs. Why do you have such long stairs, and what's so buenas in tardes?" I complained, even rolling my eyes at him. Attitude much, I know.
"Sorry."
He laughed at my remark and said "That was mean and hot."
He grasped my hand and said, "Follow me."
This guy doesn't seem to mind my attitude. We went to the kitchen, and he told me to sit down on the stool.
"You and your cousin really can't hold your liquor. Remind me not to let you drink the next time we go to a club."
There's still a next time? Can I refuse? By the way, what does he mean by I can't hold my liquor?
"What do you mean? I didn't drink any liquor." I leaned half of my body on the table. I just want to lie down.
He brought me a glass of water and said, "Bonita, it's called Long Island ice tea for a reason."
I drank the water and said, "Exactly, I only drank ice tea. Why would I get drunk because of an ice tea?"
He chuckled. "Long island ice tea is one of the strongest cocktails. It has vodka, rum and a little bit of everything that can make you pass out in it."
Is he serious? I look at him with disbelief. "It doesn't taste like liquor." I didn't know an ice tea could make me drunk.
"And yet it is. It's a good thing you didn't drink the whole glass." He said as he passed me another glass of water and a pill.
Is he serious? Ughhh, I'm so stupid. I should have asked the bartender before I ordered it. I mean, I only thought I was sleepy because of the allergy pill I took.
"It's for your hangover." He said, so I took the pill and drank all the water in the glass. Based on his reaction and the splitting headache like someone punched me in the head, I guess it is strong.
I noticed that he was dressed nicely, so I asked, "Do you have a schedule today?"
"Yeah. My schedule is packed. I'm sorry, I can't accompany you today." he said, looking apologetic.
"It's fine. What time are you leaving?"
"Now. You can sleep more, and you guys can cook whatever you like. I already asked someone to fill the fridge. If you want to go back to your hotel to pack your things, Juaquin is outside, so you can ask him to drive you. Intiendes?" he asks, looking at his watch.
