"Oh come on Y/n! I didn't mean it like that!" Mario yelled at the h/c haired man.

He let out a scoff, crossing his arms, "yeah right, you think I'm too weak to go out alone, well I don't need protecting all the time!"

"But bowser is threatening the kingdom, and like I said I didn't mean it like that!" The red plumber spat back.

"He's always threatening it, and Peach is completely fine with you around," Y/n growled as he stood over the small man.

Mario's face became red but he quickly shook it off, "I need to leave," Y/n sighed as he quickly went to the front door.

Before Mario could call him back the door slammed, Luigi poked his head from the kitchen, "what was that all about?"

"I-I don't know," Mario said nervously as he turned his head away from the door, he sat down on the couch and sighed.

"Is he coming back?" Luigi asked with worry in his eyes, Mario nodded, feeling confident that Y/n would return. "Of course he will," he stated.

But what if he didn't?

Y/n grumbled to himself, the moonlight shining onto him as he walked quickly through the forest.

Of course Y/n could protect himself, this was the mushroom kingdom after all and dangers could lurk anywhere.

But Peach clearly needed the help, and plus Mario was the perfect man to protect her.

Y/n felt embarrassed as he began thinking about Peach and Mario. Wasn't it clear that they had a special connection? A connection that was stronger that His and Mario's.

The man let out a sigh, thinking about how many times Y/n had bickered with Mario, all because of the fear of looking weak and loosing Mario to the princess.

Luigi had tried many times to get him to confess his feelings for the red plumber but he pushed it away, seeing it as useless.

Y/n suddenly looked up after the ground started to shake, then he realised when he was. "Oh crap..."

He had gone so far that he was now in the dark lands, the sky was a mix of black and green smog, and the lava bubbled threateningly.

"I have to get out of here," Y/n mumbled as he looked around, all he had to do was go the way he came.

"Not so fast," a growling voice boomed from behind the man, he turned to see Bowser approaching, "...this could work out perfectly!"

"What are you talking about?" Y/n snarled at the koopa king, then a bunch of dry bones emerged from the ground, hissing and groaning as their eyes lit up.

Y/n didn't make any hesitation as he ran like hell, the skeletons chasing after him at a rapid pace.

He ran directly into a thorn bush in a neighbouring forest that had been burnt down to a crisp, only the smoky black trees remained.

"Oh Y/n! Come out, it doesn't have to be this hard!" Bowser laughed loudly as his footsteps could be heard.

Y/n swallowed the anxiety and left the prickly bush as quietly as possible, looking around to see where he could go to leave this horrible place.
