I slip my feet into my black heels before looking at myself in the mirror once more. Taking in a deep breath, I tilt my head to the side and run my hands over my torso. My dress was a little different than what I was used to tonight but it surprisingly made me feel confident.
I knew that Conrad probably wouldn't be the happiest with my clothing choice since it's more revealing, just like the last dress I wore to one of these dinners, but I honestly didn't care. He doesn't really get a say in my clothing choices for the time being when he hardly spares me a second glance. Heidi tends to occupy his attention at these things more than me so I'm dressing for myself now.
And maybe for Harry.
Grabbing my clutch off the dresser, I head out of the guest room and down the steps to see Theodore already waiting.
"Mr. Bardot called and said he'd have to meet you at the dinner tonight. He got caught up at work so he's getting ready at the office," he explains before opening the front door.
I shake my head with a soft sigh before giving him a small nod and a 'thank you' as I pass by him and head out the door. When we approach the car he also opens the back door for me and I slip inside, buckling up. I pull my phone out of my clutch and see that I've received nothing from Conrad letting me know about this situation. It frustrates me that he couldn't even extend the courtesy of sending me a single text to let me know plans were changing.
Theodore gets into the driver's seat and we head towards the restaurant where the dinner will be held. Thankfully it's not too far from our home so I don't have too much time to get stuck in my head about everything tonight.
My outfit, Conrad blowing me off, seeing Harry.
It's Thursday night and Harry and I have talked on the phone every night since the night of the carnival. When Conrad returned home from his trip on Monday he hardly made his presence known. I didn't prep him any dinner, I hadn't moved back into our bedroom and I wasn't waiting at the door with a drink for him.
He didn't care.
We didn't even talk until yesterday morning and that was him saying 'excuse me' to move around me in the kitchen. It's like we're complete strangers these days and I'm feeling more and more alone in my own home.
