Ⓘt was six thirty a.m the first time in awhile Victoria got up for something other then meds, or vomiting. She walked over to the mirror, she looked dead.
She grabbed her light washed overalls, and white shirt, she brushed her teeth, got dressed, and did her make up, their wasn't much she could do with her hair yet, so she put a black OVO hat on.
She grabbed her Vera Bradley tote bag to use as her new backpack filling it with her pencil case, a couple binders, notebooks, and folders.
Making her way downstairs it was the same as before, Myles and Austin were shoving cereal into their mouths, "still the most disgusting men I know." She smiled, setting down her bag, putting socks on.
"Thanks Tori." Her brother acknowledged her without looking at her.
Austin said nothing, she tied her converse. "Well, I'm going to go to school early." She smiled, breaking the silence, as she picked up her bag.
"Alright, but mom put a thing of snacks for you to take with you." Myles pointed to the counter.
"Of course she did." She walked over grabbing it.
Unlocking her car, she got in, slipping the snacks into her bag, as she set it on the passenger seat. It had been a long time since she had driven.
She started to back out of the driveway, then stopped, "shoot." She remembered she left her phone on the counter, luckily her brother brought it out to her window.
"Thank you!!" She pulled out, heading to the exit of their neighborhood, this morning the traffic wasn't bad, so she took her time as if she had just gotten her permit.
When she got to school, she parked as close as she could, first order of business get an elevator pass. She walked up the steps into the school.
"Hi Victoria, welcome back." Mr. Jonik the secretary said smiling.
"Thank you!"
"I assume you came for an elevator pass, and an updated schedule?"
"How'd you know?" She teased.
Her handed her both things, "congrats on the grades, I saw them recently, glad you didn't slip behind."
"Oh," she laughed a little, "thanks."
She went to her first class, Mrs. Kobe psychology class.
"Well if it isn't Victoria Fitzgerald. Welcome back darling." She said in her country accent.
"Ha, thank you, I just wanted to get here early, beat the rush."
"Understandable, we are starting a new unit today anyways, and you have all your work turned in, thank you for that."
"Ha, wasn't much else to do, except groups, and getting shot."
She didn't say anything.
"It was a joke, I'm sorry, I've been very anti-social lately."
"I get it honey, well, you can get started if you'd like." Mrs. Kobe set an assignment sheet, and a packet on her desk.
"Yeah, thank you."
Mrs. Kobe sat back down, Victoria felt her phone vibrating, it was a text from Daniel.
hi babe, hope today goes well! I love you so much, and I know you'll do amazing, ill be here with Maggie.
She grinned, replying; I love you too ugly ((:
People started trickling into the class, they were obviously whispering about her, she ignored them, her phone vibrated again, it was Pipers' mom.
Hello Victoria, it's Rebecca! I was wondering if you gave another thought about speaking at Elizabeth's memorial, it's Wednesday night at Seymour Baptist Church. Please let me know, it would mean a lot to the family, and I.
She sent a quick response: definitely I wouldn't mind at all, I love Piper! I'll call you later.
She tucked her phone into her bag, a girl sat next to Victoria, she hadn't seen her before, and she had been at this school for three years, and you basically meet or see everyone at least once.
"Hi. I'm Victoria."
"Ha, I know, I'm Larkin."
"Nice to meet you."
"Same, everyone was talking about how you've been like, enlightened while at the hospital."
"If cutting off a bunch of losers from my life is enlightenment then hell yeah."
They both laughed.
"You do realize practically everyone is staring at you?"
"Yeah I've noticed, but Larkin I've had people stare before."
"True."
They began working on their packet, using their psych textbooks.
"What class do you have next? We never really talked before, so I wouldn't know."
"Um Shapiro, ASL."
"Oh nice, always wanted to take that class, but then I decided to continue with Latin."
"Yeah, I like it."
"Do you know any deaf people?"
"Um, a few mainly Mrs. Shapiros' children, I used to babysit them."
"Oh nice."
"Alright guys we only have a few minutes left, packets are do tomorrow, journals on Friday." Mrs. Kobe smiled, just as the bell rang.
Tori and Larkin both got up, "Find me at lunch if you want?"
"Yeah definitely." Tori waved. She walked towards the elevator. She saw Lacey walking towards her and sighed.
"Come on Tori, talk to me."
"Nothing to talk about. You're a back stabber, a shitty friend - that had the nerve to hook up with my boyfriend."
"Ex-boyfriend." She smiled walking along side Tori.
"Does it make a difference?" Tori pressed the up button.
"Victoria! Please forgive me, we are best friends."
"Were."
"What?"
"We were best friends." She said getting on the elevator.
Tori made it through all of her class periods up until lunch, not speaking to anyone.
Not that anyone really wanted to talk to her. Getting on the elevator she rode to the main floor, she adjusted her bag looking around the lunchroom, her and Larkin locked eyes she waved her down.
Tori made her way over to Larkin's table, she sat with her and a couple of Larkins friends; Calliope, Layna, Max who dates Calliope, Aiden she was very quiet, and Julia. Austin started walking towards them.
"So you're trying to steal my girlfriend."
"What..we aren't-"
"Austin, babe, this is Victoria." Larkin said.
"Oh! you two are dating?!"
"Yeah, for almost a month now."
"Wow congrats," she started to feel really uncomfortable, "I'm going to heard to Mr. Joniks class early."
She quickly left the lunch table.
"What was that about, does she like you?"
"We used to date."
"Shit. I didn't know."
"I'm also living at her house. Her brother is Myles."
"Austin, why didn't you tell me?"
She got up leaving the lunch room to search for Victoria.
