The next morning, they are having breakfast when Jace decides to voice his opinion. "Does Daelys really need to marry him?" He asks.

Daelys glances at her mother waiting for her to say something. "They were betrothed when they were born by the King." Rhaenyra explains. "No matter what is said it cannot be changed."

Jace looks displeased at the answer. "Is there nothing that can be done?" Luke asks. He is not young enough to not clearly understand everything.

Daelys sighs. "No, Luke, there is nothing that can be done." Rhaenyra says.

Rhaena has not said anything about this at all. She usually voices her opinions but now she has not said a word. "Rhaena, do you want to say something?" Daemon asks his daughter.

Rhaena shakes her head. "There is nothing to be said. Betrothals are something that cannot be broken. If the King forces her then Daelys has no choice but to go through with it."

Jace slaps his hand on the table, startling everyone. "Daelys cannot marry someone who will kill her the moment he gets a chance!" He shouts.

Daelys leans back in her chair, exasperated. Rhaenyra and Daemon look furious. "You are talking about things you don't understand, Jace." Daelys says calmly.

"What is there that I don't understand?!" Jace shouts.

"Enough!" Daemon shouts standing up. "Daelys is right. You don't know what you are talking about."

Rhaenyra presses her hand to her forehead. "If we keep throwing insults at each other then we are no better than them." Rhaenyra says. "Do you want us to be like them, Jace. Or be better than them?"

Jace keeps his mouth shut. "Answer your mother." Daemon commands.

"Better." Jace says in a small voice.

Rhaenyra nods pleased. "Then you will have to start by apologising to Aemond." She says.

Jace stares at his mother, mouth open in disbelief. Daelys tries to hide her smile though Daemon notices it. "Now everyone go and get ready for the journey." He orders.

Everyone gets up to go. "Except Daelys." He adds. Daelys stops and sits back down. No one says a word until the others have left.

"What is it?" Daelys asks.

"Have you decided?" Rhaenyra asks.

Daelys nods. "I have." She answers.

"And?" Daemon asks.

Daelys opens her mouth to answer but the sound of wings flapping comes from outside. A moment later a guard rushes inside and all three of their eyes turn to him.

"Prince Aemond requests an audience." He says breathlessly.

Daelys hides her real expression and mirrors the surprise of her parents. Rhaenyra quickly gets herself in control. "Show him in." She orders.

Daemon glances at Daelys once but doesn't say anything. Soon Aemond enters and stands in front of them. His eye quickly observe everyone.

"And why have you come?" Rhaenyra asks.

"To ask for Princess Daelys' hand in marriage." He answers with confidence.

"The order from my brother isn't enough?" Daemon asks. Daelys glances at him to read the expression on his face. It is controlled.

"I didn't know Father would send the order." Aemond answers. "I had already decided to come when I learned that Father had sent that order, Uncle."

Daelys raises an eyebrow which shows that she doesn't believe it. "And how can we know you are telling the truth?" Rhaenyra asks.
