CHAPTER TWENTY-SEVEN

Who did he think he was to be flirting with his doctor? 

He was getting on my nerves and also giving me butterflies.

I held my breath as he came behind me. His lips were so close to my face. 

I wonder how it tastes.

Gosh, I'm so weird.

Enough of him, I'm here for business and nothing else.

I picked up my phone and called Aiden. We needed to talk and he also had the right to know about this whole job thing.

He answered quickly as if he had been waiting for me to call.

"Hey," I said.

"Ashley, um...how are you?" he asked.

"Am good, can we meet up? I'll send you my location"

"Sure, I'll meet you there," he said. I could feel sadness in his tone.

I went to Mr.Smith and told him I was heading out for a bit. He seemed reluctant to let me go. But he did.

I met up with Aiden at the coffee shop near the company. I gestured my hand at him so he'd see me.

We sat and ordered coffee.

"I..." we both said in unison.

"Ummm...you go first" I said.

"No, you go first" he said.

"Aiden, I insist" He listened and started talking.

I couldn't help sensing that I was being watched.

"So...um, are you ready to answer?" He asked. I could see hope in his eyes, but that wasn't the reason I called him to meet up with me.

"No...actually I called you for a different reason" I said, the hope disappeared from his eyes.

"Oh. What is it about then?"

"So, I got this offer to be a businessman's doctor"

"That's great, Ash" he smiled

"But it involves me moving in with him which I already did"

"What? Why didn't you tell me first?"

"It happened so fast Aiden, that's why I called to let you know."

He looked disturbed.

"But are you okay there?" He asked

"Yeah, he's a bit grumpy, but I can handle him."

"Call me when he's going overboard or making you feel uncomfortable" He said and placed his hand on mine.

"Don't worry, I will" I said and smiled.

Just then, two men in black suits approached us and one man removed Aiden's hand from mine.

"Who are you?" Aiden asked looking pissed.

"Ma'am, Mr.Smith wants you back in the office" One said.

Was he having me followed and watched?

"But why? Did something happen?" I asked.

"Boss's orders miss, we'll wait for you outside"

I turned to look at Aiden, " We'll talk another time okay. I kissed him on his cheek and left before he could say anything .

I was gonna give Mr.Smith a piece of my mind.
