I hid before she could see who she bumped into. I wanted to know if she still remembered my cologne. I still had it because she always said she loved the scent.
She looked back because she remembered it.
She remembered me. I know she felt something.
She looked so pretty. Her hazel eyes were just like I remember. They still had the same sparkle.
She hated me now, but that wasn't gonna stop me from reaching out to her. She had to hear me out.
So maybe, yeah, I tracked her down, but I wasn't stalking her.
Well, not yet.
I got a call from Alfred,
"I trust you handled everything," I said.
"Yes, sir. He signed the agreement" His voice seemed as if he was tired. Okay, yeah, I overworked him sometimes and it wasn't my fault. Alfred is loyal and hardworking. That's why he's my right-hand man. When will he get tired of me?
"That's good. Well, done Alfred. I knew I could trust you" He sighed. I could sense the anxiety as he talked. He always wanted to hear me say "Well done" and that made him feel at ease.
"Thanks, sir. If I may ask, why did you leave so suddenly?"
"I had something important to attend to. I need your help, Alfred"
"With what, sir?"
"Find out everything you can about Ashley Bea Lexington. I need it as soon as possible"
"I'm still in the office. I'll get right to it and send everything I find about her in thirty minutes."
"Good. Hurry and go home, okay? You need to rest. we've got a lot to do tomorrow" I said. This time not with a boss-to-employee tone, but with a friend-to-friend tone.
"Don't worry, sir"
I hang up. After nine years, I finally gathered the courage to face her.
What a fool.
I was gonna get her back.

After thirty minutes, Alfred sent me all the details I needed to know about her.
She was now a famous doctor. I knew she'd make it. She always talked of saving lives and one day saving the world.
Alfred called again,
"Sir, there's one more thing you need to know, Miss Lexington is in a relationship. It seems she and this gentleman have been together for two years now"
Hearing this made me angry and I clenched my fists.
"I also found out that they were going out tonight. I thought you would want to know"
"Thanks, Alfred. You did well"
"I'm sending the location of their date"
"What will I do without you? Thanks? I said and hang up.
