"Kendall get down here right now!" My foster mum, Sandy, yelled at me from down stairs. I groaned and swung my legs over the bed I was resting in. I walked down the stairs slowly and spun around and went into the kitchen.

"Yes?" I asked annoyed. I grabbed an apple and took a bite of it. I leaned on the counter and she continued to clean the dishes.

"Tony told me you ripped a page in a book in the library. Is that true?" She didn't turn to look at me. I groaned.

"No. That kid has something against me I swear! That's like the third time he's used that this week." I shook my head. I took another bite and took in the crispness.

"Ok whatever. Scurry along." She said shooing me away. Before I turned around I asked one more thing.

"Can I go out? Like for a walk?"

"I don't care just leave." She huffed. I walked out of the kitchen and tossed the half eaten apple in the trash. I grabbed my back pack and reached for the door handle. But before I could turn it 2 annoying voices rung out.

"Sandy!" Tony yelled.

"Kendall's leaving the house!" Henry yelled.

"She said I could and I'm 14! I'm aloud to leave when I feel like it now! Sandys rules." I crossed my arms over my chest and they both stuck their tongues out at me. I stuck mine out at them and stormed out of the house.

The cold London air brushed on my face as I walked down the streets. I walked past the bakery and the bread smelt amazing. I decided to stop by. I opened the bakery door and the small bell dinged that was above the door. The older woman behind the counter looked up from her work and smiled brightly. "Well good morning Kendall." She said.

"Morning Debby. What's cooking?" I said taking a seat on a stool in front of the counter.

"Just some cupcakes." She went back to working.

"Where's Harry?"

"He went out for some sugar. He should be here any minute." She pulled the icing-less cupcakes from the oven. The smell filled the air.

"Mmmm!" She laughed and then the back door bell rang. "Mind if I eat this?" I asked holding up a small cherry from the cupcake topping jar.

"Not at all dear. You can have whatever you want." I ate the cherry and had the stem in my hand. I twirled it around in my fingers as Harry appeared from the back holding a sack of sugar. He set in down and smiled when he saw me, flashing his pearly whites. He slipped on his apron and started sweeping. He started dancing around and his curls bounced around and his green eyes glowed.

"Harry what are you doing?" I asked laughing at his silliness.

"Just dancing." He replied. He stopped. "Bet you can't tie that cheery stem in a knot with your tongue." I popped it in my mouth and tied it in 30 seconds. I pulled it out of my mouth and dangled it in front of Harry's face. His jaw dropped. "Dang." He mumbled.

"I eat cherries in my free time. I'm and expert knot tier." I smirked. A familiar song came on the radio. It was 7 Things by Miley Cyrus. Harry smiled at me and reached for my hand pulling me close. We slow danced around the bakery.

When the song was over he dipped me and smiled his cheeky smile. I poked one of his dimples and he lifted me back up. I checked my watch. "Oh I gotta go. I'll come by tomorrow. Bye!" I waved and they both waved back. I exited the bakery and took off running. I ran past the citizens and dodged the playing children till I reached the field a few houses behind the house. I ran through it letting the wind whip through my hair. I ran till I reached the tree line and stepped inside the lively buzzing woods. I walked past trees and rocks. Squirrels scurried about and leaves fell from the trees.

I found a large, flat rock next to a small stream. I sat on it and placed my back pack next to me. I pulled out a sandwich and a small plastic box of cherries. I took a bite of the sandwich and admired the scenery. I brushed my fingers over the small heart shaped gold necklace. I smiled to myself and continued to eat and admire the only part of the world that's not brutal.
