Today was the first day back at school. I never had any friends at school. I never talked, but now I have Maxine and she's in the same grade which was good. We walked along the side walk till we got to the school. It was swarmed with kids greeting their friends from being away during break. I saw all the jocks hanging out near the entrance. There was this one guy, his names Jonah and he is the school hottie. Everyone loves him and I have a major crush on him. But I'm dating Niall now so oh well.

"Hey ya ready?" I asked Maxine. She was staring down at a book she was reading.

"Oh yea sure. I'm super ready. Hey do you mind if I talk to a friend first?" I nodded and she walked up the steps and headed to the jocks. I grabbed her shoulder and spun her around to face me.

"You are friends with the jocks?!" She nodded. "How?!"

"I used to be a cheerleader and I'm gonna be one again." She shrugged like it was big deal.

"Those are the most popular kids in school, and I had a huge crush on Jonah." She grabbed my wrist and pulled me over to the circle they were in.

"Hey guys!" She said.

"Maxy!" They all yelled. Then they looked at me and stopped all their cheers.

"Oh yea guys this is my friend Kendall. She just moved in about a month or so ago."

"So your an foster child too?" One of the girls asked. I nodded. "That's so cool." She smiled. They aren't that bad.

"So are you gonna play a sport." Jonah asked while flipping his brown hair.

"I'm gonna try for football."

"Sounds great. I'll see you on the field." He said winking. They all walked off.

"You guys hit it off." I nodded. She doesn't know I'm dating Niall.

Tryouts were great. I killed it and the guys team watched. I was so nervous but I did really good. I ran over to Maxine who was standing on the sideline. "You were great!" She said hugging me. "Ew and your all sweaty."

"Yea." I laughed.

"So did you hear about the prom?"

"Prom at this time of the year? I thought it was at the end."

"Nope. They always do it at the beginning."

"I did not know that."

"Figured." I packed up my stuff and we headed back. "We should so get dresses together!" I shook my head.

"I'm not going." She looked all shocked.

"Why?!"

"I don't have a date." She punched my arm. "Ow!"

"Ask Niall!"

"No not after yesterday."

"Aw come on! Don't you know you haven't hid that you guys are dating very well?" I groaned.

"Fine. I'll ask Niall." She squealed.

"Now let's go get a dress!"

We picked out our dresses. Maxine got a dark blue strapless dress that was knee length. It had diamonds going around the waist. I got a rose colored, one strap, long length dress. It was silky and had diamonds planted on the top half. We got shoes and cute handbags to match. "Now you need to ask Niall. You got till next week."

"How do I ask him?"

"Figure it out." She shrugged. "Id give you advice but this is all on you."

"Who's taking you?"

"Jonas brother Carson." She smiled. "He's so dreamy."

"I thought you liked Liam?"

"I do but he hasn't really shown an interest in me." I rolled my eyes.

"Whatever."

----THREE DAYS TILL PROM----
I finally figured out what I was gonna do. Proposal from Nandos. We were both sitting in a booth waiting for our food. That's when everything would go as planned. I saw the waitresses coming and sat straight up. "Aren't you excited for food." I nodded and couldn't keep my smile from showing. The waitresses set out food down and the small note was stuck to a toothpick in the chicken. He read it. "Look up?" He looked up from the note and saw the waitresses holding the letters P, R, O, M, and I had the question mark. His face went from his normal sweetness to his super adorable surprise face. "Yes!" He ran over and hugged me and we got awes from the other people in the restraunt. It didn't feel right though. I still felt sad like there was something missing.
