Everything was off between Ruma and the others that made up the ones she knew. This lasted just over a week, and it spurred off of her mostly. Finally, as the last day came around, and Ruma was finally out of her funk, she went to the Animal Guards tower with the mindset to find Ratok.
Deon watched her leave through the elevator; it had been several days since she bothered him. Several days since, he found that book of hers.
He was leaning against his door frame, pining for something to happen or something to do. He was utterly losing his mind being kept up in this. While he was internally whining about his boredom, he noticed something new this day.
The Elevator.
It had been left open.
Deon quickly moved forward. He was not wanting to lose this opportunity. He slipped into the small room and looked at the space. It was no different than the elevators back on Cromus 9-9. The world in which he grew up.
His fingers quickly descended the line, hitting the last button to take him to the ground floor. He stepped back with a bated breath as he felt it buzz alive and slowly closed the doors to the halls that have been his prison for over a month now.
His stomach rose as the machine brought him down quickly. He gripped the railing as the elevator came to a slowed stop. It clicked, and the door opened up.
To his surprise, it opened up to the outside. Deon took a few steps out and looked up; it was here he noticed that the tower he had been kept locked in was kind of twisted; he hadn't seen the halls or his walls bend, so he never expected it.
Deon took a deep breath of the fresh air. His head dipped back, and he felt this world's sun on his face. He smiled widely. While he knew this wasn't freedom, this was still the next step out of his cage.
Scanning the area, he didn't see anything living, not a guard, a human or anything else. He wondered how this place was built if not many people were here to use it or occupy it.
Looking around the compound, he first noticed several buildings splashed about. At least twenty looked the same, taking him the better half an hour to walk around and find them all. Besides those that looked the same, there were several that didn't though much fewer than those that did.
Deon found that there was his prison tower, on the southernmost tip of the compound, on the northernmost tip, a large mega mansion; from there, there was a large guard tower and facility on the eastern side and several smaller buildings scattered about in between, it was the building on the far western side that caught his attention the most.
As he approached it, he noticed people- well, animal beasts similar to the one he had met a week or more prior- they had several humans and were rushing them into the building. He hung back for a bit, not wanting to get caught, and then proceeded forward.
There weren't many windows, only a couple. So he avoided those as much as he could until he was ready to look in them. There wasn't much foliage around, nor was there much cover. Being near this building was leaving him somewhat exposed.
Still, he moved forward, circling the area twice to look for doors and other windows, he even looked for cameras and saw none.
With that, he came up to the first window to look in; there wasn't anything really in there; looked like a room with a table and chairs, as there was nothing of note there, he continued to the second window. This one lead down a hallway. He looked to the left and right to try and spot something, anything at all, but still nothing.
He sighed and moved to the third and final window of this building. He figured he wouldn't see anything at all and placed his face on the glass.
What he saw made his heart race; he quickly stumbled back a hand over his mouth to keep himself from vomiting. He could feel himself start to panic and panic hard. His breath was all that he could focus on, and even it was able to come under control. It was frantic and heavy. Causing pain deep within him, he buckled, grabbing his hair.
There he sat for a while until he could calm his nerves. He was gasping and gulping at the air. His limbs felt numb, but his hands and body felt like electricity was racing through them.
He tried to stand to move away, but it was sloppy and like a drunkard racing home after an extended bender. Stumbling, he tried to go to the only place he knew to go.
He was halfway there when from behind him, a long tendriled-like hand, with clubed silver fingers wrapped around his arm and spun him around.
He remembered this alien, from the first couple of days of being here in this compound. Though it didn't seem like he recognised him.
"Those idiotic animal guards, this is the third time they have allowed one of you out. I am going to have to dock their benefits this next couple weeks then maybe they will get the hint." he started dragging him back, back towards the building he just came.
Deon shook his head, screaming "No, no, no!" trying to pull himself free.
The alien seemed to take no mind in his attempts for freedom, just thrashing about like he did nothing to stop nor slow him down.
Deon was forcibly dragged into the building, where they were stopped.
"Say, boss what is this?" one of the hybrid guards asked, looking at Deon.
"One of the humans, you and your bafoons of co-workers, decided to allow to escape,"
They tilted their head, and Deon could see more of a cat-like feature in them. "I don't recognise this one; he wasn't one we pulled from Quad 12."
"Obviously he had to be, or he was out for longer. Just place him in one of the lab cells and I'll find something to do with him, not like it'll be hard." he threw Deon into the arms of the other man. Which he also fought but found that he was no match for.
They forced him away and further into the building. As Deon screamed and fought even though he had no chance of winning.
