Y/N was looking at the screen tuned into stats, Thanos had been dead for some time, Tony was back with the Avengers, the stones were gone, reduced to ash like everyone else. He sat there thinking about how he would have made Thanos beg for death before killing him. He was sick of losing people, now Nat was the only person who he spoke to, no one else had laid eyes on him since the death of Thanos, well, no one else who was an acting Avenger. Tony and Y/N had kept in constant contact, Y/N was even being called uncle by Morgan, one of the few times a smile came to his face.

"Uncle Y/N, can you tell me a story?" Morgan said as she sat with Y/N on the couch in Tony and Peppers lakeside cabin.

"Sure, what story do you want to hear?"

"Any story." Morgan answered gleefully as Y/N chuckled before thinking of a story.

"Did I ever tell you about when your dad saved Peter?" Y/N said as Pepper walked in.

"Really?"

"Yeah, your cousin Peter was at the Stark expo in 2009, he had an Iron man toy helmet on, it just so happens that some idiot named Justin Hammer, thought it would be smart to show off a bunch of untested robots armed to the teeth, to a crowd full of people, luckily your dad and uncle Rhodey were there to fight off the robots, while your uncle happy, your mum, and Auntie Nat all worked to stop Hemmer and arrest him. Anyway, a robot found Peter and because Peter was wearing the iron man helmet the robot thought he was the real Iron man, it was about to hurt him before your dad flew in and save Peter by destroying the robot before he flew off." Y/N said as Pepper smiled.

Morgan looked to her mother while Y/N checked the time.

"Morgan honey go to bed I'll send dad up to read you to sleep." Pepper said as Y/N stood up putting his coat on, the snow outside looked thin enough to put up with on the walk back to the compound.

"No, not happening, you're staying here, I'm not having you out in the snow walking to upstate New York." Pepper said as Y/N let his head drop.

"I'll be fine."

"You know this is why..."

"Don't, aunt Pepper, I know what you're going to say and don't." Y/N said as he left the house, setting off on the road.

It took him two and a half hours to get back to the compound, he was on call with the acting Avengers, talking about the situation around the globe, Y/N ended up leaving the call early due to the fact that he wasn't needed anymore, or at least that's how he saw it. He walked into Hell's Kitchen, seeing people banding together to survive the winter was giving him hope, he felt like there was still a chance to bring back those lost in the snap.

He walked into the local bar to find a woman with white hair tied in a pony tail sat at the counter with a small glass of whisky on the counter. Y/N sat next to her and sipped the whisky handing the woman some money, way more than for a glass of whisky.

"Make it quick..."

"I want an item it's in a facility, this stone, use this orb to pick it up or it will kill you, when you have it bring it to the Avengers compound and I can have your slate wiped clean, any past crimes gone from the record." Y/N said as he looked to the woman. "So Felicia, you in or what?"

"Fine, anything I should know about."

"Yeah, place is guarded, a few security systems and this is a government backed operation, hopefully this stone can help bring back everyone we lost." Y/N said as Felecia's ears perked up at that.

"Everyone?" Felecia asked.

"Everyone." Y/N confirmed as he looked her in the eyes. She could see it he had something about him, like he'd done this before. "Trust me, I'm an Avenger."

Y/N finished his drink and left, continuing to walk to the compound, the snow crunching under his feet. When he arrived Nat was sat down with an unpleased look on her face.

"You lose connection again?" Nat asked as Y/N sighed.

"Something like that." Y/N answered as Steve walked in shaking his head at Y/N.

"What's the point in inviting you to the call when you always leave early?" Steve said as Y/N went to talk only for Steve to continue. "Those calls are as much to make sure no one else has died as they are to keep track on the universe."

"You know what fuck you Rogers..."

"Y/N!" Natasha warned as Y/N shook his head.

"No, I'm apparently the only one not giving up, apparently I'm the only one still looking for a way to bring them all back! So yeah, fuck you Rogers, you know I can't tell what's further up your ass, the high horse you're always on or your own head." Y/N said as he squared up to Steve. Nat got between them both. "Taking his side now, go on, everyone else does. In fact, not just you Rogers... fuck. this."

Y/N ripped the Avengers logo from his shoulder and slammed it on the table.

"I'll bring them back myself, you want to help feel free to contact me." Y/N said storming out of the compound.

"Y/N?" Nat said running after him.

"You can talk to me when you remember what that symbol stands for and when you remember the promise you made to Wanda and Pietro." Y/N said as he kept walking, ignoring Nat as she tried to stop him.

"Y/N, come on, let's talk..."

"Talk is all the Avengers are good for nowadays, we talk about bringing them back but when we are given the opportunity we just talk about that! I've found a stone, Thanos didn't destroy all of the infinity stones. He destroyed the ones he used, not the ones he didn't they're out there and we can used them to bring them back." Y/N said as Nat shook her head.

"Y/N it's a fairy tale, your chasing something that no longer exists, you have to accept it, they're gone."

"I can't, I'll never accept it, If they're really gone then what's the point? I will not give up on them, even if you guys have."

"Y/N if you keep on like this you'll die..."

"Then I'll see you in hell!" Y/N said as he left Nat stood there watching her son leave his life behind to chase a dream.
