Get Up

Y/N woke up in a freezing courtyard, surrounded by political prisoners, his back was no longer broken thanks to his mutations, barely, at most he could walk a few paces before falling over, he was in no condition to walk, let alone fight. The agony was almost blinding as Y/N tried to stand up. The boy fell to his hands and knees as he was helped by a nearby prisoner.

"Liohka, treba adpačyć. [Easy, you need to rest.]" The man asked as he helped Y/N to his feet.

"Jak doŭha ja byŭ na vulicy? [How long was I out?]" Y/N asked as he looked around him. "Dziakuj [Thank you.]"

"4 hadziny. [4 hours.]" The man answered as Y/N analysed the courtyard for a way out.

Y/N paused before seeing a way out. He struggled over to a nearby fence, moved his hands about and opened a portal in the fence, he could barely maintain it for long.

"Idzi, ratuj nas ad usiaho, što jany planujuć. [Go, save us from whatever they're planning.]"

"JA viarnusia, kali zmahu vyratavać ciabie. [I'll be back when I can save you.]" Y/N said as he walked through the portal, he arrived at the resistance base where Wanda was waiting while she had sent the blood sample with a 1st class delivery system, Pietro.

Y/N fell through the portal and into his hands and knees, Wanda rushed over to him and helped him to his feet.

"We should have helped you..."

"I told you to leave, I bought you time to get that sample to the Resistance." Y/N said as he was carried to the armory workbench.

"Sit down." Wanda said as she sat Y/N down.

"Wanda I don't need a nurse..."

"Shut up, you've done so much for me and Pietro, since the day we met you've helped us never once accepting help from us or anyone else. Now, now I repay the favor by helping you get into fighting shape and giving you some advice." Wanda said as Y/N looked at her surprised. Wanda began moving her hands and using her magic on Y/N. "You may have all of these extraordinary abilities and mutations, but you are still a man, and you can't win this on your own, broken back or no, you're not an island, you're not alone, you're a man, and a man's strength doesn't come from just muscles and knowledge, but from his allies."

Wanda used her magic to keep Y/Ns injury in check while she handed him blueprints for a suit to help with injuries, Tony had designed it after Rhodey was injured on mission.

"The crutch suit." Y/N said as he looked over the blueprints. "Looks like it uses a gel layer to assist with injuries. It looks like it can help me with cushioning attacks and impacts from falls, it should allow me to take more punches and survive falls from greater heights."

Y/N spent 45 minutes making the suit, setting up the composite gel layer, adding pieces of armor as he assembled his own suit of signature armor, he added a wingsuit like Sam's, keyed the helmet into HELEN who was now transferred from his old visor that was missing, to the resistance network and now to his new helmet.

Y/N put on his new armor, stepping out and revealing it to Wanda who looked proud.

"Time to give it a test run." Y/N said as he put on his new gauntlets and readied them for use.

He walked over to a small table and injected himself with a small concoction to help speed up his mutated healing, then opening up a portal to a rooftop and closing it behind him while Wanda looked at him and began thinking of how she could help. She grabbed a comms piece and tested it before contacting Y/N.

"Y/N, do you read?"

"Yeah, got something?"

"I'm looking at the hacked CCTV cameras, and other hacked devices, I can provide updates to you as long as you're getting me hacked devices to listen and watch from." Wanda said as Y/N nodded to himself.

"Understood, first off I need to look for answers, mostly, what 'Project: Engine Failure' is." Y/N said as HELEN brought up a file on his HUD.

"Boss, I think I can help with that, just before I returned to the resistance servers I went looking through the Red Room files, it appears Project: Engine Failure is a plan to wipe out everyone in Belarus, starting with Minsk and moving on to other cities. Red Room forces have planted a bomb at the top of their control tower, they're trying to bait you, but if that bomb goes off..."

"The City dies." Y/N said as he received contact from an unknown number. "HELEN track this caller."

"Hello Y/N." Madame B said as her grinning face appeared on the screen.

"Madame Bitch, how're things, heard there was a hole in one of your prison security systems earlier." Y/N said cockily but Madame B still kept smiling. "I can tell you're dying to boast about something, go on."

The woman paused for a moment before speaking.

"He said go on Natalia, speak to him." Madame B said as she turned the camera to face Natasha who was injured with a gun to her head.

"Mum..."

"Ah, ah, ah. Listen carefully now, you either come alone to the prison district right now or I'll kill Natalia, then I'll kill the rest of the Avengers, then I'll hunt your precious Amy down and make you both watch as I kill little Anna and David." Madame B said as Y/N clenched his fist. "Oh and before you think you can do that and then save this city, the timer has been brought forward to one hour from now. Tick tock Maximoff."

Y/N cut the call of before calling Wanda.

"Wanda, you hear that? We need a cure to the mind control now." Y/N said as Wanda thought for a moment.

"Hold up, I'm getting the blood test results off the Resistance network and feeding them into the chemistry table, it should take a few minutes. Y/N, if the cure doesn't work, you know you'll have to fight without holding back if you want to live." Wanda said as Y/N was silent for a moment.

"I'll cross that bridge when it comes, for now I'm coming to pick up the counter agents." Y/N said as he opened a portal and Wanda walked through before he could do the same.

"The antidotes and a few toys to help if they don't work, courtesy of Stark." Wanda said as Y/N nodded silently before pocketing the items in his combat vest pockets and activating the wingsuit.

He jumped off the roof and took flight as he began soaring through the city skyline at night, projections of a flight path on his HUD showing up to lead him to the meeting point.
