2: Unconditionally

I woke up to Ms. Morrow gently shaking me.

"Hey! Delilah! Wake up! It's school time!" I roll over to face her and open my eyes."Come on! We don't wanna be late!" She says, leaving the room and closing the door. The guest room wasn't as bad as Ms. M was making it sound last night. She said it would make her more comfortable if I slept on the couch or I take her bed and she could sleep in here because she hasn't checked for bed bugs and hasn't sweeped the room. I'm only staying 1 night, not forever! I got up and opened the bag I packed. I pulled out my "New Jersey Devils" Jersey and light blue jeans. I put on my black leather ankle boots. I look back down at my shoes. I walk over back to my bag and switch my left shoe for a red leather ankle boot that is the same as the black ones. I grab my hair brush and walk into the bathroom. I think I'll just brush it and leave it down. I began to brush my teeth. After I'm done, I head back to the guest room and put my stuff away. I grabbed my backpack, then headed downstairs to the kitchen. I saw Ms. Morrow messing with Evans hair.

"Just let me fix this part!" She says, following Evan to the cabinets where he grabs a bowl.

"Mom, my hair's fine!" Evan says with a slight laugh, turning around facing me."Oh, hey, Delilah! You want some cereal?" Evan asks, pointing back to the cabinets with his thumb.

"Sure." Ms. Morrow sits the comb on the counter while Evan grabs me a bowl, and I sit my backpack down next to a chair at the table. "We have Captian Crunch, Cocoa Puffs, and Cherrios" She says, opening a small pantry in the corner."Captian Crunch!" "Cocoa Puffs!" Evan and I say at the same time."Okay! Here you two go! I'll grab the milk!" Ms. Morrow sat the cereal down at the table, going to the fridge. We poured our cereal. Ms. M sat the milk down and grabbed the cereal to put back in the pantry.

After Evan and I eat our cereal, we head to her car and go to school. "Delilah! Your dad is picking you up today if you forgot!" Ms. M says, looking left and right at the street. "I remember." I say as I look out the window. Ms. Morrow pulls into the school, and Evan and I get out. "Have a good day!" She says as we leave "Bye mom!" "Bye, Ms. M!" We met up with Nick and walked down the hall and heard a familiar voice yell.

"Look out!" I looked behind me to see a boy in my class, Sam. He's a dare devil. he was riding down the hall on his skateboard. Sam rid past us, throwing himself into a vending machine, making one of the items drop he grabbed the item that had fallen and high-fived his friend. We walked toward him. "Sam Samitar!" I said, then fist bumping him. "Hey, D!" He replied. "Sam, I see you like throwing yourself into large objects." Evan stated the obvious. "If somebody dares you to do something, you got to do it, right?" Sam said, adjusting the strap on his helmet "Well we were wondering if maybe you wanted to join our hockey team?" Evan asked. Sam shook his head. "Nah, too many rules. I'm not a rules guy." Then he hopped back on his skateboard and road down the hall. The three of us looked at each other.

Nick and I walked to the cafeteria while Evan went to try to get Sofi to join the team. Once we got to the cafeteria we grabbed some lunch then we went to find a table. As we passed some tables, we came across a table full of popular girls with their hair in high ponytails and their Brandy Melville expensive mall clothes. I see Maya and continue to walk to a table.

"Hey! I can't ask them alone! Come on, you dont have to talk! Well, maybe? I dont know how this could go." I sigh and follow Nick,"Fine." Nick places his tray of food on the end of their table and spoke."Hello ladies!" he gave them a smile and spoke."I love that crop top! Is that Brandy Melville?" He pointed out at one of the girls, and they just looked at him like he was crazy. "So we were just wondering if maybe you wanted to join our hockey team?" Nick asked. The girls looked at me in disgust and fear. All but Maya. She looked at me, trying to hold back a smile, but smiled at me at the same time. I look at her with a slight small smile back. The main popular girl answered.
