22: Starboy

I woke up to a lot of commotion coming from outside. It was louder than normal. I got up and got dressed, then left the room.

The voices got louder as I walked down the hallway. I passed a few kids, and they pointed at me. I walked into the main area that was outside and saw posters everywhere with my face on them.

I got closer and read it. I was betrayed. The posters were about me liking Maya. I looked around, and then I saw team Dominate laughing and pointing at me. AJ was standing there awkwardly.

I saw Evan running towards me with sympathy on his face.

"Delilah!" He said. I ran away and hid.

Maya's POV:

I walked outside and saw people surrounding a wall. I went to see what was happening. When I saw the poster, I was in disbelief. Then I saw the words.

"Delilah Parker is in love with Maya Kasper."

She loves me? I looked around to find her. She's staring at the poster in sadness. She ran away as Evan ran towards her. I went a different way to find her.

Eventually, I found her in the bathroom. She was sitting in the corner of a shower with cuts on her wrist from broken plastic from the cap of a shampoo bottle. She was holding the broken piece in the opposite hand.

"Delilah, no," I kneeled down to her and took the plastic. "Don't do this." She was just staring blankly at the floor. I got a wet rag to clean her wrists. They weren't deep, but they did draw blood. She only moved when I moved her. "I'm sorry this happened to you." Then, after all her silence, she spoke.

"It's not your fault. It's mine." "No, it's not." "It is! When I stayed after Nick's party to help Alex clean, I told her to go get some rest while I stayed. AJ came in to get water, and I accidentally told him. It's my fault." I gave her a hug.

"I might not love you the same way, but I still love you, Delilah." She lifts her head up and looks at me with watery eyes and scrunched eyebrows. "You're not mad or weirded out?" "No." She smiled at me."Come on. Let's go back to the room for a little." "Can we skip today?" "Sure."

Coach Cole's POV:

I heard loud commotion from outside. I left my office and went outside. I saw posters about Delilah Parker-Portman. It was about her liking another girl. I looked around to see if I could try and find who did this. Marni came running up to me.

"Coach! I don't know who did this! But I have a few suspects!" I look around, then find who did it.

"No need, Marnie. I found them." It was my team. Team Dominate.

I brought them into a locker room and made them gear up. "So! You're probably wondering why you're here, right?" They all were quiet and looked scared. AJ broke the silence.

"It was just a joke." He said in a low tone."A joke? A joke!? Jokes are supposed to make people laugh! Not make them feel like hell! Did you see Delilah laughing!? I know I didn't! That was rude, immature, and disrespectful! When someone tells you something like that, you don't go around and make fun of them! You support them because they had the courage to tell you!" I yelled at them for a while as they tried to apologize.

"Don't tell me sorry! You didn't hurt my feelings! You apologize to Delilah!" I made them do laps until they couldn't feel their legs. They complained but they deserved it.

Delilah's POV:

Today, we had to take team pictures. I didn't want to go after what happened yesterday. I stayed in my room for most of the previous day with Maya, and without her.
