We stood around Nick cheering as he scored his first ever goal. He was shocked but excited! After the game Logan and I were on the bench talking about what we should do this weekend when 3 girls approached us.

"Hey, Logan," One of them said. "That was a great game." She continued. I wasn't jealous. I was furious.

"Yeah, uh, thanks. Well, I couldn't have done it without my girlfriend, Delilah!" Logan says, taking my hand and smiling at me. I smiled back, knowing the girls were jealous because of the looks they gave. Logan got up off the bench, and I could tell he was uncomfortable. Everyone was leaving, but Logan. He was still sitting down. I stayed with him. But he wasn't talking and looked pretty upset. I tried talking to him, but he wouldn't answer he'd just stare at the ground. Bombay walked in cleaning the locker room before noticing us.

"Hey, you guys okay?" he asked us concerned. "I am. Don't know about him?" I said, shrugging. "It's stupid." He said, looking up. "What's stupid?" I asked. "Well, it's just, now that Nick got a goal, I'm the only player on the team who hasn't scored all season." He told us. "It's okay. You guys still won." He added. "Because of everyone else. I didn't do anything. I feel like a loser." He told us. "Well, there's a bunch of girls out there who disagree." Bombay told him. "One of them asked me about your relationship status. I said, taken since you guys are together. Right? That's still going on?" "Yeah" "They just like me for my hair and smile and stuff," He said. "I want to be liked for actually being good at something." "It's gonna take a bit more work," Bombay said before sitting down. "Look. Logan. There is a hockey player inside of you. And we're gonna find it. You with me?" he asked him. "Yeah." "Alright, let's go." "Can Delilah come?" "Sorry. I can't. I have to go home. Shawn's been waiting outside for a while and I don't want him waiting any longer." "That's okay! I'll call you later!" Logan says getting ready to stand up but then falls onto the ground. My eyes widen and I put my hand over my mouth looking away trying not to laugh. "It's gonna take a lot of practice." Bombay said as I helped Logan up. I left the team locker room and went to change in the girls' locker room.

After I put my street clothes on I went outside to my dad. While I was walking out I was Logan skating by himself. I got into the car with Shawn and we talked about the game.

"Wish I was there kid!" "I know! But you have to work. I understand." Dad hasn't been to any of the Don't Bothers games because he has to work a lot more than usual now.

At the dinner table I got up the courage to ask him about it. "Dad?" "Yeah?" "Why have you been working more than usual recently?" He sighed and looked down at his plate "I knew you'd catch on." He said under his breath but loud enough to where I could hear him. "What's wrong?" I stopped eating and got concerned. Shawn hesitated for a moment. "They raised the rent on the house....they raised it from 1,680 to 1,980. An extra 300 dollars. Plus I need to pay for your hockey stuff, bills, food." "I can quit hockey so you can pay rent and bills eas-" "No Delilah. You're not quitting hockey! You love it!" "But-" "It's okay, D! I'll manage." We continued to eat and I did my normal night routine.

The next day we had another game with the final score being 6-3 for us. Alex was going crazy on the practices. I feel like this is NHL hockey but more intense.

"I scored! I scored!" Maya yelled. She's adorable! I looked at her. "Crap, it's the socks." The team has all been wearing the socks we've won in every game. Logan scored the winning goal with his new signature shot. Ms. Morrow wasn't going to let him in so Nick had to do it behind her back.

"I can't believe we made it to States." Koob said. "We told you we didn't need those socks." Maya told him. "Oh? Didn't we?" He asked pulling the sock out of his mask.

"Guys. What was that?" Alex asked walking in.

"That was a W." Evan said and everyone cheered. "It might've been a W, but it's only because of some trick play. That wasn't the plan." She went off.

"Sorry." Logan apologized. "Don't be sorry, you did great." I said, everyone agreeing. "You should be sorry. I am the coach. You have to listen to me. You can't just do whatever you want. We have to stick to the plan. The plan is what got us here. I am the coach, I tell you the plan, and then you do it. Can you imagine if you did that with Coach T. What would he do, Sofi? He would go crazy. He'd scream at the top of his lungs, he'd turn this trash can over, he'd trash the place." She ranted, pushing down all the hockey sticks. Then walking out.

"I was gonna ask if anyone wanted to go to Dairy Queen, but the mood has seemed to change." Nick said breaking the silence. We all went home to get ready for states.
