When she noticed where we were going, she suddenly squealed.
"We're going to the beach!" I can see her clasp her hands together in pure excitement at the corner of my eyes.
I just laughed at her and parked the car, going out first and opening the door for the green eyed girl. She can't wipe the smile off of her face and I can't help but do the same. She must really love the beach. I took the things we need before making my way back to her. She practically ran to the shore, taking her combat boots off before feeling the cold water of the sea.
I placed the picnic basket I brought and set the blanket down. Seeing the other girl still playing along the shoreline, I took my phone from my pocket and snapped a picture of her. Thinking of a good caption, I settled on "serenity" and posted it on Instagram. I watched the notifications blow up before gazing back to the familiar alabaster skin.
I beamed at her when she was walking back at me, dropping her boots down before plopping beside me.
"Thank you," she spoke, smiling ear to ear as she leaned in, kissing my temple.
I felt my cheeks heat up and I wasn't able to do anything but give the green eyed girl a genuine smile.
"Hold on," I said, holding up a finger at her before standing up. "I'll be right back."
I jogged towards my car and opened the trunk, taking the guitar with me as I made my way to Lauren. Her face lit up when she saw the black guitar bag in my hand and I sat back down in front of her.
"You know how to play?" She asked, eyebrows raising together.
"Obviously," I laughed, unzipping the bag and taking the spruce guitar out of it. "Do you know the song Iris?"
"I think I'm familiar," she nodded, waiting for me to strum.
I don't really sing in front of people, not even my parents or Dinah or Camila... this girl is an exception.
I positioned my left hand to the neck of the guitar, to the right fret and the right chord. I lifted my head to meet Lauren's eyes and back to the strings.
"And I'd give up forever to touch you," I started softly, my hands shaking a bit.
I know that I've planned everything but I don't know if Lauren will like it. I'm nervous that maybe I'll be out of tune or I'll forget the chords so, I did my best to focus on the guitar instead of the piercing green eyes.
"'Cause I know that you feel me somehow
You're the closest to heaven that I'll ever be
And I don't wanna go home right now
And all I can taste is this moment
And all I can breathe is your life
When sooner or later it's over
I just don't wanna miss you tonight."
"And I don't want the world to see me
'Cause I don't think that they'd understand
When everything's made to be broken
I just want you to know who I am," the vibrant and husky voice sang along with me, making my head dart up to her and smile like an idiot.
She took the next verse and I jammed in at the chorus to the end. Hearing her angelic voice for the first time as she sings sends shiver down my spine in the best way possible. I knew that she can sing but I never knew she was this great.
