On the walk home from school the next day Renjun stops at a little shop and buys a little potted rose. When he'd got home the night before Jeno was nowhere to be seen, which Renjun was thankful for. He'd gotten home pretty late and he was a little tipsy, he just wanted to go to sleep.
Thankfully he managed to get up and drag himself to school. The day had been pretty good, Renjun had spent his entire lunch break working on his art project which was finally coming together, he knew exactly what he was doing.
He stares down at the blood red rose in the little white ceramic plant pot, it wasn't much but it would do.
When he gets home he walks straight through the house and out the back door. There was only one tree in the backyard which was a large oak tree. It must have been there for years if Jeno's body had been buried under it.Renjun makes his was over to the base of the tree and sits down cross-legged on the grass. There was no tell-tale sign that anyone was under there or that the ground had been disturbed. Why would there? It had been centuries.
The brunette gently places the plant pot down and smiles. The first flower to ever be laid on Jeno's grave. His chest hurt at the thought that it had taken such a long time for anyone to care enough to place a flower down.
"I'll get you a real headstone made one day" he mutters to no one in particular. He knows Jeno couldn't hear him, he was in the house, but when his grandmother had passed a few years ago his father had spoken at her grave and it seemed like a normal thing to do back then. Now he just felt silly. He spends a couple of minutes just sat beneath the large tree, enjoying the peacefulness of being outside and alone.

Jeno watches from the window at the end of the hall as Renjun places the potted flower down.
He had o idea how he found his resting spot but Jeno couldn't even begin to describe how it felt watching someone visit his 'grave' after years of having nobody even know he existed.A tear rolls down his cheek and he quickly wipes it away, resting a hand over his racing chest. Surely someone that was dead shouldn't feel like this. How did it feel like his heart was racing when he had no heartbeat?
He lifts his hand up to the widow and watched as it flickered between solid and transparent, the steady stream of sunlight shining through it. "No" he mumbles, cradling his hand to his chest as another tear falls "please give me a bit longer" he sobs. "I'm not ready"
•••••Renjun shoots up in bed, his breathing rapid and dripping in sweat.
He'd had an awful dream. He hadn't had a nightmare in years but this one had seemed so real.
Renjun rakes his mind to try and remember the bad dream but details were slipping away from his brain by the second, leaving him in a terrified state.
"I use to get nightmares too" a voice says, tearing Renjun from his previous thoughts. He looks over at the ghost sat I his usual space in the window, staring out at the dark street beyond. "When my parents first passed away I use to have them almost every night"
Renjun says nothing, only watches as Jeno gets up and climbs into the bed beside him, pulling the covers up. "I didn't have anyone there when I woke up, but don't worry I'll stay here while you go back to sleep" he says, tentatively wrapping an arm around Renjun. "I'll make sure you're safe."
The brunette stares into the ghosts eyes, not quite knowing what to say or do. He always seemed to be doing the wrong thing by letting his feelings get the better of him and making jeno angry. But this time jeno was the one to open his arms, and Renjun allowed himself to melt into the ghosts embrace, wrapping his own arm around him and laying back down to go to sleep.
Jeno didn't push him away or flinch at the touch, he only tightened his embrace and planted a soft kiss to Renjun's head.
"I'm so sorry" the ghost mutters as the boy begins to drift off into a peaceful slumber. "For everything"
