The sunlight leaked through the drapes, causing Renjun to roll over with a groan in an attempt to block it out.
"Renjun! You gotta get up hun!" his mother shouts from the corridor outside of his room. He grumbles in response and buries his face in the white pillow. He lay like this for a few moment before his eyes shot open and he jumped out of bed.
He looked around his room, under his bed, in his closet. "Where is he?" He mumbled to himself as he still searched around.
The brunette sighed slightly. "Was it a dream?" Before he could think on it any longer his mum was yelling for him once again. "I'm coming!" He yells back, taking one last look at his room before running down the corridor and down the staircase.
"Did you sleep well?" His mother asks as she places his breakfast on the table. Renjun pulled out a seat beside his father before sitting, his eyes self-consciously looking at every corner of the room.
He shrugged in response. How was he supposed to reply? 'Not really, I'm pretty sure a ghost slept in my bed all night'. His parents were lovely people but even they would think he was mad.
"Yeah I slept okay I guess" he replies trying to sound as natural as possible.
"I guess?" His mother questioned with a raised eyebrow as she took a seat opposite him. "Was your bed not comfortable?".
"No, it's just..." he thought for a moment trying to think of an answer. "I'm still not use to it here, I guess I was missing my old bed a little, that's all, and this place smells different." He take a large bite of his toast before his mother could question him further.
"Well I slept great!" His father perked up from next to him causing his mother to laugh slightly.
"Well that's good to hear" she says, laughing a little before she started to eat.
The whole way through breakfast Renjun was looking over his shoulder. He felt on edge, still not knowing if what happened last night was a dream or not.
Once he was finished he made his way back to his room and took out his laptop. He opened up Skype and clicked on one of the contacts, waiting for an answer.
Soon enough it stopped ringing and a face appeared on the screen.
"Hey! Why are you calling so early?" Chenle's sleepy voice echoes from the speakers causing Renjun to smile slightly.
"Because I need to tell you something" he replies, this seems to interest his friend slightly. "I had a weird dream, well I think it was a dream I'm not sure" he starts. Chenle pulls a confused look which Renjun could see very clearly through the computer screen but was told to carry on anyway. "The bedroom window flew open on its own so I got up to close it and then decided to go to the bathroom, and there was this-"
"Ghost!?" Chenle interrupts, looking a little excited "is your new house haunted hyung?"
Renjun sighs a little but can't help letting a small laugh slip from his lips "come on Chenle, we both know there's no such thing as ghosts"
The younger boy pouts "not true! My grandma told me a bunch of stories about ghosts and lost spirits, they're real she said she's seen them with her own eyes"
Renjun's lips press into a thin line as he listens to his friend. It's not that he didn't believe Chenle but...well he didn't believe him. Chenle was pretty gullible and anything he was told he believed and it didn't take much convincing. "Well if you had a ghost in your house what would you do?"
Chenle thinks for a moment before smiling "perform an exorcism?" He shrugs which didn't offer Renjun much reassurance or comfort "so do you actually think your house is haunted?"
The elder shrugs a little, glancing over his shoulder to make sure nothing was behind him "I'm not sure, this place just seems a little strange I guess".
"Most old buildings are haunted hyung, but they're just spirits and can't hurt you anyway right?" Chenle assures but Renjun only scoffs.
"Whatever, I gotta go, I'm going to look around my new school" he says with an eye roll.
"Okay, don't make any new friends that are better than me!" The younger yells before ending the call.
Renjun laughs as he closes his laptop, moving it over to his desk. He grabs his old school bag, throwing it over his shoulder before leaving the room. Before he could shut the door he couldn't help but take one last glance at his room.
Still nothing.

"So you're transferring from China?" The headmistress asks, flipping through a few papers on her desk. Renjun sat beside his mother, nervously tapping his foot against the tiled flooring. "We have quite a few Chinese exchange students here, there seems to be one in your grade too so I'll ask him to show you around for the first few days".
Renjun smiles at the woman before glancing over at his mother who gave him a reassuring nod. It's not that Renjun was anti-social and struggled to make friends, it's just the thought of new people in a whole new country put him on edge a little.
"Is your Korean good?" The headmistress asks and once again Renjun gives her a nod.
"My parents have been trying to speak only Korean for the past three months to try and make me as fluent as I could get" he explains, ignoring his mothers proud posture at the statement.
"Great!" She beams, shuffling the papers in front of her into a neat pile "you start tomorrow! I'll just have your subject teachers sign a few papers and you'll be set to go"
Renjun and his mother stand from their seats, bowing slightly before leaving the office. His mother seemed pretty satisfied with the school and Renjun did too, although it didn't calm his nerves much.
"You excited to start a new school?" She asks and the brunette only shrugs a little. She sighs, wrapping an arm around his shoulders as they exit the building and walk towards the car "you'll be fine, you're a friendly boy and your Korean has improved so much, you'll be just fine hun" she assures, causing a faint smile to appear on Renjun's lips.
"Thanks mum".
