As soon as Renjun got home he raced upstairs to his room, slamming his door shut behind him. He wasn't too shocked to see Jeno laying on his bed, reading through one of the old fairytale books off Renjun's shelf.

The boy storms over and pulls the book from his grip which only earned a smirk from the ghost "how was school?" He asks, an almost sarcastic tone to his voice. It was strange how he had just popped up out of nowhere yet treat Renjun like he had known him for years.

"Are you the only ghost in this house?" Renjun asks, crossing his arms over his chest and staring down at the confused ghost.

"That wasn't my question" Jeno mutters which only led to Renjun roll his eyes.

"But it's my question so answer it" maybe he was making a mistake by being so demanding towards Jeno. He still wasn't sure what ghosts were and weren't capable of.

Jeno sighs, sitting up, causing his and Renjun's face to be a little too close for comfort. The boy takes a cautious step back. "I've been stuck here for over a hundred years and I've never seen another ghost in this house" he says, seeming almost bored at the question "why do you ask?"

Renjun's eyes narrow a little before he takes a seat beside Jeno "my parents really love this place, I was just making sure you didn't have any friends that would try and scare them away"

"But you don't like it here" he points out. Although it was true, the statement seemed to only anger Renjun. What right did a ghost have to say he didn't like this new house? Ironically Renjun would like the house a whole lot more if it weren't haunted.

"It doesn't matter whether I like it or not, as long as my parents are happy that's all that matters to me" he mutters "I'll get use to it".

Jeno watches Renjun for a moment, making the boy feel a little uncomfortable. Believe it or not, being stared at by a ghost was actually rather nerve wracking. Who would have thought?

"Can you please go away so I can get changed?" Renjun asks, trying to change the subject and subtly tell Jeno to get away from him.

"Where do you expect me to go?" He seemed almost amused buy the fact Renjun had told him leave. "If I could leave don't you think I'd already be gone?"

The brunette only shrugs, trying not to feel too embarrassed by his lack of knowledge on ghosts and life after death. "I don't know, maybe you like staying in this house and annoying people"

"First of all, I don't annoy people I scare them" this causes Renjun to roll his eyes yet again. Jeno's scariness seemed to vanish the moment he decided to formally introduce himself and insist on sleeping in his bed. "Second of all, I can't leave this house".

"Whatever, just at least leave the room please, and don't watch me get changed, that's-"

"Creepy?"

"No, it's weird and perverted" If Jeno was given the label of 'creepy' or 'scary' even for a second it would only feed his already way too big ego. Renjun wasn't willing to do that.

He barely knew this ghost yet he seemed so predictable in his actions and choice of words.

Thankfully, Jeno disappeared. Although Renjun didn't see him leave the room, he had no other choice than to just hope he did and he wasn't actually just watching him strip and change. He tries not to think on it too much, quickly switching his skinny jeans for a pair of sweatpants.

Once he was satisfied with his comfortable change of clothes, he leaves the room, half expecting to see Jeno stood outside but was pleasantly surprised when he was met with the empty hallway. Although he couldn't see Jeno, he knew he was lurking somewhere due to the chilling temperature. "If I freeze to death it will be your fault, I'll haunt you and see how you like it" he mutters to no one in particular, hoping that Jeno heard what he had said before he carries on down the hallway, jogging down the creaky staircase.

His mother sat at the kitchen table, laptop open and a pair of reading glasses perched on the top of her nose which she pushed back up when they slipped down the bridge. She had a notebook beside her, desperately taking notes as she read the bright screen. "Hey" he says, causing his mother to glance up and give him a smile.

"Hey sweetie, how was your first day?" She asks, her focus still on scribbling in the notebook.

"It was okay, it's not as good as my old school though" he mumbles the last part, not wanting his mother to hear and thankfully she didn't seem to.

"Good, I'm sure you'll start to enjoy it more when you make more friends" she looks up to offer her son a reassuring smile and nod, almost as if she were trying to convince him that it was true.

"Yeah I guess your right" at this point Renjun was just saying what she wanted to hear. Even if he had completely despised the new school, it's not like his parents were willing to pack their bags and move back to China, the most they'd do it transfer him to another school in the area. "What are you doing?" He asks, moving the topic of conversation from school.

The woman sighs, leaning back in the chair and pushing her glasses up onto her head, reaching up to rub her forehead in frustration. "I'm just trying to sort a few things out with the house, electric bills and such" she explains and Renjun nods in understanding. "It shouldn't take much longer, your father should be home within the next hour. How about we go out for food, a nice treat for us"

Renjun can't help but laugh at this "Are we going out to eat as a treat or is it because there is no food in the house yet?" He asks, raising a brow as he waits for her answer.

"Both?" She laughs a little too, putting the glasses back onto her face. "I often forget you're not as gullible as your father"

Renjun moves around the table and places a quick kiss to the top of his mothers head. "I'm going upstairs to do some homework"
By this point she had occupied herself with scrolling through endless webpages once again, only giving her son a quick thumbs up, her eyes still glued to the screen.

He takes one last glance at his mother before grabbing a shiny red apple from the fruit bowl, turning around and making his way back up to his room.
