He slowly pushes the door open, glancing around the room before sighing in relief when Jeno was nowhere to be seen. The room was unusually warm too, an indication that Jeno wasn't in here. Renjun closes the door, walking over to the large mirror on his closet door, examining his appearance.
He looked awful.
Awful was an understatement, he looked utterly horrific. His skin was sickly pale with large dark bags beneath his eyes, his lips seemed to have lost most of their usual pink tint, now almost white, a sure sign of dehydration.
With a sigh, he grabs his water bottle off his desk, taking large gulps in an attempt to make him feel a little better. When the bottle was empty he slams it back down, feeling his stomach rumbling and gurgling at the new liquid. Renjun groans and gently rubs his stomach, taking deep breaths hoping to calm himself down.
Before he knew it, he was racing out of his room and to the bathroom, crouching down in front of the toilet and allowing the contents of his stomach to come up.
He knew this would happen. He wasn't the type to drink alcohol, usually only having a glass of champagne or wine on special occasions. But he had lost count of how many shots he had downed the night before, and his body obviously didn't approve of them one bit.
Once he was sure there was nothing left in his stomach, he staggers to his feet, flushing the chain and rinsing his mouth with water from the sink. He presses a hand to his forehead, allowing himself to sit back down on the floor, keeping his eyes closed as he waited for the room to stop spinning.
Suddenly, the temperature of the room dips and Renjun doesn't even have to open his eyes to know that Jeno was there. Now was really not the time for Jeno to be looming over him, telling him that 'you fucked up' or 'you shouldn't drink if you can't handle it'.
But in a weird and messed up way, feeling Jeno's presence was almost comforting.
Within a month Renjun had moved to a completely different country and into a house that was haunted. He had lied to his parents, fallen for a ghost who straight up rejected him. He had gotten drunk, kissed a guy for a dare, lied, yet again, about having a boyfriend, come home and puked up his internal organs.
Renjun was pretty sure it was the left over effects of the alcohol, but he felt a lump in his throat as tears well up in his closed eyes. He was quick to bury his face in his hands, not wanting Jeno to see him like this.
What a mess.
He sobbed uncontrollably for what felt like hours although he was pretty sure it had only been five minutes. He reaches up, wiping at his damp eyes and pushing his messy brown hair from his face.
When he looks up he notices Jeno sat opposite him, staring at him with an unreadable expression.Renjun doesn't say anything, he doesn't move from where he sat huddled up against the bathroom cabinets. He just stares at the ghost sat in front of him. Admiring the way Jeno's black hair fell over his forehead in just the right way, the way his skin seemed to glow, the small sparkle his dark eyes had when the light hit them, and most of all, the way his perfect plump lips were parted ever so slightly, almost as if he had words on the tip of his tongue that he couldn't seem to speak.
"Are you okay?" Jeno eventually asks although Renjun knew it wasn't what he wanted to say. There was more he wanted to say but he wouldn't allow himself to.
Renjun only shrugs "take a guess". He wasn't in the mood for Jeno's bullshit right now. He'd be kind one minute then a total ass the next, just how he had been before.
"You stink of alcohol"
And there it was.
Renjun laughs in disbelief, finally staggering to his feet, already having had enough of Jeno. "Thanks" he mutters, moving to open the door, his heart dropping slightly when he finally opens it.
On the other side of the door stood Jisung with his fist raised as if he were about to knock, his eyes widen a little when he looks past Renjun and towards Jeno who still sat on the floor. Completely visible.
"U-Um your mum let me in, she said you were upstairs" he says "me and Jaemin wanted to check on you".
Renjun felt like he was going to vomit again. Not only was Jisung here but Jaemin too? Could this get any worse?
"Renjun here drink-" Jaemin says, running to Jisung's side, holding out a bottle but stopping when noticing Jeno "-this"
The brunette sighs and takes the half empty bottle of medicine, taking a wild guess that both Jisung and Jaemin had drunk some too.
Renjun brings the bottle to his lips, taking a sip before turning slightly, looking over at Jeno who no longer wore the torn clothes he died in but the same turtleneck and jeans he wore the night he met his parents. He must have sensed them coming. Yet hadn't disappeared?
Renjun mentally curses to himself before walking over to Jeno and holding out his hand for the ghost to take. Jeno looked a little confused but obliged, slipping his cold hand into Renjun's and standing.
"Jisung, Jaemin" Renjun starts, moving Jeno's hand so that it rested firmly on his hip. "This is Jeno...my boyfriend"
