chapter three - beach trip

november 18th 2022

phoebe drove us to the beach, we blared taylor swift and muna most of the way there. at one point i did think phoebe was going to crash, "who's idea was it to let phoebe drive" i asked, everyone giggled and she flipped me off.

we were walking out and there weren't many people there. we sat our stuff down and i took my cover up off, still holding my stomach.
julien removed my arms from my waist, "stop worrying" she said smiling and yanking my hand, running to the ocean.

we got a little carried away and ended up pretty far out. lucy and phoebe were pretty far behind us. i got splashed by a huge wave, "oh my god!! julien are you good back there" i said laughing and wiping my face, waiting for a reply from the girl. i got my footing and turned around seeing julien trying to come up for air, i swam as fast as i could to her. "are you okay? julien, julien!!" i screeched as she was unresponsive. "lucy!!!" i screamed, trying not to cry while i was swimming, while also trying to keep juliens unconscious body above the water.

i got closer to shore as lucy snapped her head around, "oh my god" she said helping me get julien on the sand. "she's not breathing oh my god lucy" i said, phoebe saw what happened and luckily knew cpr. she quickly performed cpr on julien. julien started coughing and looking around. "what happened" she asked, "oh my god you scared me so bad. you literally started to drown" i said, now crying. "i'm okay, look i'm alive" she said sitting up hugging me.

"if it wasn't for pheebs i genuinely don't know what would have happened" lucy said. "well i'm okay now. can we swim now?" julien said, "no, we're going to go to the doctor to make sure you don't have anymore water in your lungs. plus i feel like i'm gonna fucking puke so" i said. i kneeled down holding my head, "you okay?" lucy asked. "i don't know" i said still holding my head.

julien pulled all of my hair back into a low ponytail, leaning down to look at me. "do you need water?" she asked. i shook my head and then i threw up. lucy and phoebe gasped, "okay, it's okay, you're okay" julien said rubbing my back. i teared up and looked at her
"sorry you literally almost just died and now you're taking care of me" i said. "hun your nerves are super scattered right now. you had no control of that, don't apologize" she said, holding one of my hands.

we went to the doctor, phoebe did great during cpr so julien was okay. the doctor told me it was just my nerves making me sick, and just gave me some anti anxiety meds to take when i get nauseous during chaotic situations.

we were all sitting on the couch recovering from whatever had just happened.

i got a text from my mom that read "you're invited to holidays, but i don't ever want you in my house again." i wasn't really planning on it.

"hey luce can we go to your room and talk real quick?" i asked. phoebe shot her a confused look and she shrugged. "yea come on" she said standing up.

we went in her room, "so mom just texted me" i said as i showed her my phone.  "oh my god, why does she think you wanna come back anyway?" lucy asked. "i don't know? but what i do know is that i cant find a house yet" i said. "i thought you were like living here now" lucy replied. "oh. i thought i was just staying for the night" i said. "oh my god, no" lucy giggled.
"oh okay, i feel stupid" i started to laugh.

we went back in the living room. "i really want shaved ice" julien said, "that does sound good" i replied. "it's fucking winter" phoebe said. "okay and?" julien replied, "you guys can go. i'm good." phoebe said. "same" lucy replied. so we went to juliens car.

we got in the car and started talking about something. she by dodie was playing while we were talking. "lucy said you were planning on writing your own music" she said turning the music down a little. i turned to her "uh yea! i think i wanna go to college for it though, i never went so i think i want to now. nothing crazy though, just a local community college or online" i said. "that's a good idea" she smiled at me.

we pulled up to the shaved ice shop, we order and go and sit down outside. we had both finished our shaved ice, and sat in her car talking. i saw a call from lucy pop up on my phone, i answered and put it on speaker. "hey luce" i said, "hey, where are you and julien at right now?" she asked frantically. "sitting in the parking lot of the shaved ice shop, why?" i said worriedly, me and julien glancing up at eachother.

lucy sighed, "we'll phoebe was on her way to walmart and got into a wreck, she called me and now i'm following the ambulance to the hospital" both mine and juliens eyes grew wide. "what? is she okay? we'll be there soon" julien said, starting the car as i strapped my seatbelt on. "she's okay, her car is fucking totaled, but she's alright. she's just hurting, julien drive safe, please." lucy said.

"yea yea i will... we'll be there soon" julien said. "one of you guys let me know when you get here," i heard lucy park her car, "i just got here so i'm gonna let you go. love you guys" she said. "will do, we love you too" and with that lucy hung up.

i could tell julien was worrying, of course i was too, but phoebe was juliens best friend, so i'm sure the worst popped into her head. "who knew we'd be going to the hospital twice in the timespan of 4 hours" julien said with tears in her eyes sort of chuckling. "it's gonna be okay, j" i said patting her shoulder. she nodded and quickly wiped a tear that fell.
