potential - summer walker

Maddie groggily gets up at 9am, being woken up by the sound of pots and pans. She looks up from the couch and turns to her, looking tired with her face all puffy. Aaliyah makes eye contact with her, making a face and mouthing 'sorry'.

"Why are you sleeping on the couch anyway?" she asks her.

"Taehyung cannot handle his liquor that's why." she replies, getting up to go to the bathroom. Coming out she walks back to her room, looking at him, still sound asleep on her bed.

"I'm making a breakfast sandwich, you want one?" Aaliyah offers, seeing how tired her roommate looks.

Maddie nods and goes on her phone to check her messages.

She closes her phone and rolls her eyes, tossing her phone on the table and turning the tv on instead, not even wanting to waste energy on Jordan right now.

"What's that about?" Aaliyah asks approaching with the sandwiches in hand.

"Thank you. And it's simple," she grabs the plate from Aaliyah, "Niggas." she says flat toned with a straight face.

They both burst out laughing. Aaliyah knowing exactly what she meant by that.

Maddie wastes no time talking to Aaliyah about the whole situation. From her almost kiss with Taehyung to Jordan being an overall shitty human being, they've been talking for well over 30 minutes.

"You better than me because I would've had your cousin fuck him up like she offered to. Shit i'll do it. He's grimy as hell."

Maddie laughs as she gets up to put their dishes away. "You're actually hilarious."

"What made you think I wasn't?" Aaliyah says jokingly putting her hands on her hips. She looks at her Apple watch and goes into her bedroom to grab her bag.

"Practice?"

"Yup. Not D1 for no reason." she says about to head out. "I'll see you later Maddie."

Maddie waves back and goes to sit down until she hears a knock on the door.

"Did you forget your key-" she asks as she opens it before realizing who it is.

"Get the fuck outta my face." she quickly says about to close the door. Jordan sticks his hand in the door, blocking it from closing completely.

"I just wanna talk to you. Please." he says looking at her through the tiny crack. She opens the door and looks him up and down.

She walks away and  he follows her to the couch. Sitting on opposite ends and facing each other, he can see the annoyance on her face and looks around to avoid eye contact.

"You decorated the place nicely." he compliments continuing to look around.

"You came here to talk about my decorating skills?" she replies nonchalantly, quickly regretting her decision to let him speak to her.

"No, I wanted to say I'm sorry." he says, looking her in the eyes this time.

After he slept with Jalece that night and the following morning, he regretted it. Seeing his best friend with his girl, looking happy and having fun, he saw something he could've had with Maddie.

The fact that he fucked it up ate at him.

"I was wrong to say we weren't together, and even more wrong to go to that party in the first place. I know we weren't just talking, I just said it to make myself have an excuse to do what I did, and it wasn't fair."

He says every single word with sincerity, making sure to keep eye contact with her.

"I can't make you forgive me right away, but I just wanna know if I could have another shot with you. Be my girlfriend."

Maddie takes in everything he says. One side of her wants to tell him to leave and never talk to her again. The other part of her feels like forgiving him. He seems genuinely sorry and she enjoyed being with Jordan.

Before she puts a response together, Taehyung walks out of her bedroom, looking at the pair on the couch before going to the bathroom.

"He was drunk at a party we went to yesterday. He's probably extremely hungover," she explains to him.

Jordan nods and presses his lips together. Every bone in his body feels the urge to ask Taehyung if he likes Maddie. You don't become this close with a girl just because.

Jordan and Maddie have been a thing for a while, the fact that he still hung around her pisses him off. He should respect the fact that she has a man now.

Taehyung comes out of the bathroom and walks to the bedroom, putting his shirt on and carrying his clothes and shoes in his hand.

He passes them for the 3rd time, about to leave the house, and feels 4 eyes staring at him.

"I'll text you later Maddie, thanks for letting me stay here, nice seeing you again Jordan." he says as he opens the door.

Maddie gives him a tight-lipped smile and Jordan raises his hand and nods as Taehyung closes the door.

The two on the couch look at each other once again and Jordan raises his eyebrows, still waiting for an answer.

"I'm willing to try again...but I want to hear you say it this time." Maddie says looking him in the eye, playing with her rings.

"You're my girl." Jordan says smiling at her. Maddie smiles softly at his words.

She has a boyfriend.

"Let me take you on a date. Think of it as a redo."

"Sure, I'll just have to shower and stuff but I'll try and be quick." she says getting up to go to her bedroom.

Maddie's phone dings and Jordan looks at it.

As if he wasn't already skeptical, her phone wallpaper is a polaroid of her and Taehyung on their graduation, his arm around her waist and shes hugging him by his neck.

He picks up her phone and checks the message, by nobody other than the man himself.

Thanks again for letting me stay over last night.
But I also need to talk about last night
I forgot a lot but not what I said to you.

Jordan deletes the texts sent and closes her phone, setting it back down on the table. His suspicions of Taehyung liking her were definitely correct. He'll do anything to keep her as far away from him as he can.

Maddie comes back out with her clothes and heads to the bathroom for her shower. 30 minutes pass and she's finally ready to go. As she opens the door for her and Jordan to head out, they see Jimin and Taehyung walking down the stairs.

Jordan makes eye contact with Taehyung then kisses Maddie on the lips, making sure he sees. Jimin and Taehyung exchange confused looks and continue walking down.

"What was that for?" Maddie asks looking at him.

"Just happy you're my girl." he says putting his arm around Maddie's shoulder.
