Typing away on her laptop, Maddie writes at 3am. She's always found it as a way to escape, a way to let her mind roam free when everything goes to shit.
And recently, everything has gone to shit.
She knows she has her first class at 9, but she doesn't care right now, she's in the zone. Maddie found herself not being able to sleep for the third night in a row, with nothing but her thoughts consuming her.
The first day back here was tough, she felt alone. She was without her family, her cousin, her best friend. She managed to get through her classes for the day but when she came back home from her last block, she just cried. Maddie cried for hours on end. She cried because she was upset.
Maddie hates her father with every bone in her body. But she's sad because whether she likes it or not: He was her dad.
And no matter what she can't change that.
Once she came to that final realization, she was able to control her feelings. She hasn't shed a tear since.
She chews on her bottom lip as her fingers hit the keys on her laptop. The only thing lit in her room is her laptop screen and a candle she lit at 1. Other than that she's sitting in complete darkness.
Maddie finally stops typing and reads her work. She re-reads it 3 times before she finally clicks off of it and emails it to her professor and Taehyung.
It wasn't for an assignment, Taehyung was the one who suggested she write about it. Not for him or anyone else to read, but simply to help Maddie get the closure she needs.
She did it for her.
But having people who understand her brain might help, it would honestly make her feel better about the way she thinks. Maddie picks up her phone and calls Taehyung, immediately putting the phone to her ear.
The phone rings twice before he picks up.
"Hello?" he says groggily. "It's 3 in the morning Maddie you have class in like 6 hours."
"I just sent you something." the girl says as she plays with the rings on her finger, ignoring the fact that she has to get up later. "It's what I've been writing about family."
There's a pause of silence as they sit on the phone. Taehyungs a little foggy but he quickly realizes what she's talking about and nods to himself.
"I'm gonna read it now okay?"
There's a bit of rustling as he gets up to grab his laptop. They sit on the phone in silence for about 8 minutes as he reads her work. He wants to take his time with this.
As soon as he reads the first paragraph, he can tell she put everything into it. Her emotions are conveyed through the text beautifully, you can feel the pain she feels as writes. The way she states everything in a calm tone, but has force behind each word. She doesn't disrespect her parents or express her dislike for them, she simply states the facts.
You can tell that she has personal experience about what she's writing but it's still professional. Everything flows together nicely and there's nothing forced in, Maddie wrote what was in her mind and put it into this.
