Chapter 33

Work had been long and I was so ready for it to be over. Once again I was with Dr.Bekker which made the day even longer. Connor was in the ED for today so we couldn't really see one another. The morning was busy of surgeries and we had finished the last one until later.

"How's the wedding planning?" I looked up to see one of the nurses being in the instruments. "Oh it's going great. I finally picked my dress and I got most of the venue together." I smiled as I set my things aside. And looked at her. "Just five more months and I'll be Mrs. Lily Rhodes." I smiled at the name and so did she. Laughed and joked about a few more things and it was finally time for lunch.

Deciding to go to the nursery to check on the boys I stepped into the elevator and pushed the button for the floor. "Hold the door." I heard Dr.Bekker yell. I waited a second to think if I would just closed the door or hold it open. But the goodness got the better of me and I held it open. She flipped her hair as she looked at me. "You were a little slow today on your passing. I excepted better from you Lily." She didn't looked at just looked straight as she spoke. "I didn't see a difference in my job. Maybe I would just work with Dr.Latham or Connor more if you so displeased." I crossed my arm and finally we looked at one one another. My floor was coming up and then the doors open. I stepped out but before walking in I turn around and placed my hand on the doors to stop them from closing. "Connor is mine. You may think you can get him or even win him over out I promise you. You will loss." She say anything or looked surprised as what I was saying. "And I know what your doing. If you cross Conor and make him lose his job, I will come for you." Dr.Bekker smirked "is that a threat Lily?" I shook my head and smiled. "Oh no Dr.Bekker I never threat. It's a promise."

Walking up to the glass seeing my boys placing and walking around brought me joy. I loved seeing them laugh and baby talk to one another. I swear they had their own language. "Oh hello Lily." I smiled at the daycare teacher as I walked inside. "The boys have been great. A little fussy here and there but all in all they have been good." I smiled and thanked her. "Has Dr.Rhodes came by yet?" I hoped I hadn't missed him. "No, not yet." I smiled and walked to the boys.

"Hello my Maverick. Oh how's moms Elijah doing?" Maverick walked over and handed me a small toy and then Elijah snatched it making Maverick cry. Now Elijah, no need for that." I played with them a little longer then it was time for lunch. I had only thirty more minutes left till I had to set for another surgery. I kissed them both and say my good byes. "You can let Dr.Rhodes know I came to visit them in my lunch hour." I told the daycare teacher. "I will Lily. See you in a few hours."

I decided to the Cafeteria since I could get my food fast then walking outside and waiting at the food trucks. "Salad and coke please." I told the lady then handed my cash to her. "How have you been Lily?" I looked over to see Dr.Charles and went to sit with him. "Hi Dr.Charles. It's been busy. Just left seeing Maverick and Elijah." I smiled placing the salad dressing on my food. "They are growing so fast." I agreed with Dr.Charles. "Oh yes. One going on ten." I laughed. "Oh yes kids definitely go grow fast." I looked at the clock and still no Connor I was really hoping he would make it for lunch but sadly I think I would miss him.

Finally the day had ended and the last surgery was over. Dr.Bekker was still giving me a hard time by the last stitch. I walked to the nurses station and made sure I had finished my paper work and that I had made my check rounds on my patients before leaving. It was close to six and I knew Connor had left at least an hour ago taking the boys with him. So I decided to not rush leaving. "Ms. Halstead a word please." Looking up I see Ms.Goodwin looking over my way with Dr.Latham. "Shit."

I walked over to them both and waited for someone to talk. "Ms.Halstead, it had come to my attention today that you and Dr.Bekker had some words." Ms.Goodwin looked at me placing her hand in front of her. "Not sure what you mean?" I needed to play dumb. I'm pretty sure she was talking about the elevator talk I had with Dr.Bekker. "Ms.Halstead this hospital does not take well with its staff threatening one another." Bullseye. The bitch snitched on me. "Not really sure what you are referring to Ms.Goodwin but I haven't threatened anyone." I said back. It's true I didn't threaten her. I promised. "I understand my the other nurses that Dr.Bekker has been hard on you. I would like for you to work with myself and Connor for a little while." I wasn't upset. I actually was happy to be away from her and get some time with Connor. I agreed and walked away back to the elevator to leave. "I should have had that talk with her a long time ago." I thought to myself smiling. But then I thought. I needed to keep my eyes on her. I wasn't sure what she was trying to do with Connor. I knew she wanted his job but get him fired. Was that what she wanted or was there something more.
