"$300 monthly for rent alone. Doesn't include the electric and water bill. That's a pretty cheap price isn't it?" The land lady etched a wide smile on her lips as she tours me inside the apartment.

Pretty cheap? Probably yes, but not for a broke, jobless twenty year old girl who's only left with just few bucks in her wallet.

"So what, are you taking it?" I swallowed really hard as I take in what the land lady just explained.

"Yes, I'm taking it."

"Great. So here's the key." She then gave me the key to my apartment. "You know where to call me if you need anything."

"Yes, thanks." Was the only words I said as I stare back into my first, newly apartment.

There's nothing interesting about this place. Not even a single furniture could be seen anywhere in this pretty small four cornered room except a bed, couch, dining table, and some chairs which makes it a little more spacious. And I don't think I can fill this up anyway. I don't have money for such and it's the only price I can afford right now. Not like I have other choice. I can't be homeless right now.

I was feeling drained today, searching for a place to stay here in this city the whole day. I've been to several places, and now it's pretty getting dark again outside and I don't want to expect for anyone again to let me spend the night in some places.

I toss my bag and put down my gig bag, before I lay down the floor and clasped my hands behind my head as I looked up at the ceiling and began to contemplate what happened to me since yesterday and what would happen to me now that everything doesn't goes into what I've planned.

I finally able to get myself a place to sleep and now my problem is where I could get the money to pay for the rent. I don't have anyone to ask for money and pay my expenses.

Few moments later, my phone starts blaring from my pocket, and quickly saw Lucy's name flashed on the screen.

"Lori, I was calling you since earlier." Lucy was sounding worried through the line.

"I'm sorry, I was pretty busy."

I heard him let go a heavy sigh. "Well, how are you? Are you able to talk to your Uncle?"

I spaced out for a moment. "Yeah, I'm totally fine. Uncle Ben's really nice. He even let me stay here in his house." I lied to my teeth.

"I'm glad to hear that. Now I can be settled."

"Yes. Sure, there's nothing to worry about." After the conversation I had with Lucy, I tried to settle myself. I don't really want to lie to her but I'm gonna make her worried if I tell her that Uncle just rejected me and I have nowhere else to go.

Everything turns out the opposite of how I expected it would be like. I know reaching my goals would never be that easy but I'm will to do everything. Not like there's much to risk but I chose this path over my studies, over everything that I had to take up. I don't want to waste another time anymore. I can't just go back to my family and let me eat my words. I'm gonna pursue my dreams no matter what. But I guess I should now face the reality.

.

The next morning I decided to find for job, not wanting to get kicked out from my apartment. But it turns out pretty harder than finding a place to live in. This place is completely different from the place I'd grew up.

There's pretty much a lot of job opportunities here than we have back home, but the only thing is their requirements. I've been to food chains, clothing stores, coffee shops, and diners, but no one seemed the slightest bit interested but accepted my resume anyway.
