As we all settled on the living room, Gray and Matt was serious when they said they're willing to help me with my writing even though I haven't agreed to them yet. They've been telling me so many things about writing and how I would I basically apply it to my work. Which is helpful, I must say. Although it was completely different from how Rafa would explain it to me. Probably because they have different ways and techniques when it comes to writing and creating music. They're more technical when it comes to writing. They make sure everything is as clean as it could possibly be, while Rafa focus more on the story telling and how he wants a song to connect to people.
To be honest, they're very helpful and very nice to me. I was amazed how humble and kind they were from the personalities I expect them to be. And which adds up to my amusement when I figure they really are the ones who wrote all their songs since their first single. Not only that they're good with instrument, they're also able to compose their own songs, and music and make it a hit. I mean, just what can't they do? These people are just insanely talented.
"You get it?" I bit the pen in my hand as I catch up with Gray after explaining me about writing.
I looked to his eyes for a while with my teeth dug in my lips. "Yeah but, what if I want to write about a sad song but I'm really not sad. Or like something I really want to write but got zero experience. How do I do that?"
They then squint their eyes on me as though they were thinking about my question really hard. "Well, we have this thing called, the write thing." Clyde spoke this time as he sat across from me with a glass of juice.
That got me reminded of what Rafa had told me the other day. It seemed like he didn't really just made up that concept. And this just makes me more curious about it.
"Let say you want to write a sad song. Not everything can basically be written just cause' you feel like that's what the song needs. It doesn't always have to be an experience or something you felt in that moment. You would want to get inspiration from the things you think that might help you. Like a friend who's been through pain or whatever. You know, everything around you could definitely be a subject. There's a story everywhere around you. And you just got have to be the storyteller for that."
The way Clyde explained those made it sounds easy to do. I honestly get his point. It's almost the same thing as how Rafa explained it to me but, I just don't know how would I start it.
"It's okay. Take your time to process." Clyde said with a chuckle when he notice the reaction on my face.
With a heavy sigh, I leaned back against the couch and start ruminating everything they had told me.
I never been stressed composing a song until now. I always thought writing songs doesn't take that much effort. That you could write whatever you want on your songs. Well basically we could, I could. I could just write anything about whatever I want but, that doesn't imply to everyone. Especially if you really want your song to connect to people like how you want to connect to them. Which was my mum's intentions when she writes a song. It's definitely not an easy job, honestly.
I was in the middle of my thoughts when suddenly my head drew over to Rafa who was looking at me. His face is serious and I can't think what exactly he's been thinking right now. And just when I was about to offer a smile, he looked away and began to stroll to the kitchen.
"Hey, can I ask something?" The three raised their brows at me.
"Sure, what is it?"
"Why aren't you releasing new songs?" My sudden question made them bring their attentions at me. They turned quiet and seemed like none of them would want to respond when I noticed how they exchange quick glances. And then my eyes swift to Rafa when they all looked at him. He was facing the other direction so I cannot see his reaction but sure it did made him pause from what he was doing as he stayed in place.
