The more I think about Rafa and the conversation we had last week the more it becomes a harder for me to accept the fact that I lost it. Although I'm genuinely happy that he's finally decided to get back to singing, I can't deny the fact that there's pain that I've lose a lot of chances.
I looked at the guitar Rafa gave me and decided to hide it in my closet.
I take another moment to look at my reflection in the mirror before getting out of my room. I saw Riza wiping the tables, she isn't looking my way but I know she notice my presence.
"That guy from last time..." I was unable to take a step when Riza spoke without looking my way. "Who is he?"
"He's just a friend."
"That's not what he said to me." I paused and try to figure what she's talking about.
"It doesn't matter. I've nothing to do with him anymore."
"Loraine." I looked to my back and saw dad comes out from his room. "Would you come with me?"
I looked at him for a while before heading next to him.
I was clueless during our entire car ride and before I even decided to ask him we pulled over to our old house.
As we entered the house memories begin to drive up my body. It's been a while since I've been here. After Riza and Dad got married, they decided to live in another place.
Although I could still come here once in a while I just thought it make me miss my mum even more.
"Here." I looked down to where he's handing me a notebook.
"That's the songs your mother had written since she realized she's willing to become a song witter. You always think she's good but trust me most of the time she feel like her works are trash. He always throw that but I thought keeping them.".
I suddenly felt a little emotional. It was crumpled but dad still get to keep it. And I basically just see myself.
"That's clearly show her growth not just a writer but a person. One thing that matters is that she never give up."
I always thought she's been a very good song writer but I never thought what she's gone through to achieve her dreams.
"Believe me, she had done everything to become one."
.
When we get back to the diner, I looked around, wondering why our diner's not yet open.
"Aren't we opening yet? It's Sunday. There will be a lot of customers today." I asked dad as he step beside me.
"No, were not." My eyes then went over Riza who just come out from her room.
"Why is that?"
"Because I'm gonna have to leave today."
I got confused. Riza never a miss a chance when it comes to business. Usually if she's have to be somewhere she get to take us in charge. But it seems like she's got to be somewhere important.
"To where?"
"The city." She said, and the only time I realize she's dressed than he usually. "I'll be seeing Alma there."
"Oh, that's nice."
"What nice? You're coming with me." For a moment I had to process what I just heard and stare at her for few beats.
"What?"
"You know more about the city, and I think I'll be needing your help." I spaced out again for moment when I feel dad pat me on the back. I looked up and he just give me a smile.
