Aurora pov
I woke up the next day the happiest that I had been since I came there.
I couldn't sleep the entire night because the scene of the day before kept replaying in my head.
Even though I was sleep deprived, I wasn't exhausted.
I was very excited for the day.
I couldn't wait to see Kayden.
I got dressed up in a Black cropped hoodie and white shorts.
He told me that his favourite colour was black and I wanted to dress up in it.
After breakfast, I went in search of Kayden.
He was not at breakfast nor did anyone know where he was.
I finished eating then filled up a plate with some food for him.
Where could he have gone?
Wait.
Was I being desperate?
Should I wait?
Would I seem clingy if I went in search of him right now?
But, he was the one who set up all that yesterday and he was the one who initiated the date yesterday.
Don't overthink it, Aurora.
I went towards his office and saw Jason coming down the hall.
Great, he would know where Kayden was.
I stopped him and said "Hey, I just wanted to know-"
Before I could even complete my sentence, Jason stopped me.
"I'm really busy, pretty girl , I think you should ask someone else." He said as he walked past me without even giving me a gesture as little as a smile.
Was he mad at me?
Did I do something?
He was fine yesterday when we met in the arena and then-oh, no.
Shit, I was supposed to meet him.
I totally forgot.
I hope he didn't wait for me too long.
I didn't mean to ditch him.
God dammit, I messed up.
I was about to follow him to apologize when someone tapped on my shoulder from behind and I almost stumbled down from the sudden shock.
A strong arm linked around my waist which prevented my fall.
I had my eyes closed waiting for the impact which never came.
I squinted my eyes open and saw Kayden.
He visibly gulped, his eyes darker than the midnight sky.
My hazel ones must have seemed so lifeless compared to his.
I found myself lost in his gaze.
I didn't get to enjoy my reveries for too long as Kayden cleared his throat and helped me get up on my feet.
"What are you doing in this hallway, we don't have a meeting for another hour? He questioned.
I looked down awkwardly.
"Um, I didn't know whether you had breakfast or not so I wanted to bring you some but as you can see that is no longer possible." I said pointing to the plate full of food which was now littered on the floor.
I must've dropped it before when I fell.
"Oh, that's no problem, I'll go and make myself some coffee. Would you like some?" I thought he would be mad at me for ruining the hardwood floor or even just disturbing him in general.
He looked happy that I came though he seemed a tad nervous.
I guess, I had no right to comment on that because I got more tongue-tied around him than anyone else.
I just wanted to escape from this awkward interaction so I politely refused his offer and went back to my room.
As soon as I shut the door behind me, I grabbed my pillow and screamed as hard as I could into it.
God, this was so frustrating.
Are me and Kayden 'committed mates'?
Were we in a complicated relationship?
Were we dating?
Were we in the awkward phase?
Were we like the couple that you know waa doomed?
Maybe I should've thought about my actions more thoroughly.
I also had another concern on my mind which was salvaging my friendship with Jason.
