Zico hadn't said a word as he and River walked down the street. What was he supposed to say? He was sorry she was fighting with her boyfriend, and that he liked her a lot and she should date him instead? She would hate him!
She hadn't made a sound either. She just shuffled quietly beside him, his jacket sagging away from her body in a way that made her look younger, vulnerable even. But she wasn't vulnerable. She was no where near vulnerable. Gullible, maybe, but not vulnerable.
"So," He finally started. "How's... fighting?"
River shrugged her shoulders, and Zico could hear his jacket rustling, since it was incredibly oversized on her. "I wouldn't know. I was ejected from my gym, and I haven't found a new one."
His eyes widened. "Really? Not yet?"
She shook her head. "No." Her voice was soft, childish, like a dream had been crushed. Zico supposed it had been. After all, she'd been practicing for how long? "How's, uh, the new albums... and stuff?"
"Good," He answered plainly. Silence again as they continued to walk. "So... what were you two fighting about?" He asked lightly.
River shook her head. "You."
"Me." He said flatly, exhaling audibly. "Care to elaborate?"
"No."
He frowned. "I mean, you kind of have to now, since you said I was part of the fight." He said, turning towards her and coming to a stop. She stopped as well, but refused to look at him. "River, come on."
She turned towards him, her face scrunched together in annoyance. "Zico, it's really nothing, okay? I fight with everyone, I fight with all my boyfriends, this is nothing new, and it will be resolved eventually." She huffed and started to walk away, but he caught her arm. "I was trying to get something going okay? But he knows me too well. He knew I was trying to cover something up."
"So... you were trying to sleep with him to divert his attention from you and I?" He tried to keep the smile from tugging at his lips, but he couldn't. Personally, he felt like there was no diverting attention from him and River. "I mean, that definitely wasn't the route to go."
River frowned. "I know that. I wasn't trying to distract him I just... it really doesn't matter what the reason was. He thought I was covering something up, and since I hadn't told him, it definitely made it look like I was covering something up."
Zico sighed. "So then it probably wasn't a good idea for me to come find you to bring you back to his apartment."
"I'm not going back to his apartment. It's better if we're just separated for the night. Going back is just going to make him start questioning things all over again. And I can't. Not tonight." She said, shaking her head and taking a step away from Zico, as if he was going to snatch her up and drag her back to Akito's apartment.
"Then I'll take you back to your apartment."
