Faiza entered the living room and a frown settled on her face immediately, she saw Aliyah sitting with a middle aged woman and her husband, the frown intensified as she stood to listen to what they were discussing, her legs shook as she lost balance upon hearing what they were discussing, her gaze met her husband's who immediately looked down, the feeling of betrayal and hurt stuck her heart as she stared at Farooq's guilty face, his mother pretended not to see her, her heart skipped a beat and her vision got cloudy, the only thing she remembered before fainting was whispering her husband's name.
Farooq picked up his wife frighteningly before she touched the floor and dropped her on the couch, he sprinkled water on her face and tapped her multiple times, Aliyah watched his actions upset and hissed a multiple times.
"Leave her alone, she'll wake up, let's settle things w-"
"Mum!" Farooq angrily said, "This is my wife! I don't want to get angry at you," he spat and left the living room with Faiza in his arms.
He placed her on the bed gently and stared at her face, she looked stressed out, the past year has been rough on her and he's never seen her that sad or depressed in his life, he gulped as he held her hand and cursed himself silently, blaming himself over and over for all that had happened.
He sprinkled water on her face yet again to which her eyes fluttered open this time around, she took in the surrounding for a few seconds and snatched her hand from his grip when she remembered.
She stared at him with the look of betrayal in her eyes, "Is this how it's going to be, Farooq?" She whispered.
He shifted his gaze to the ground as he was unable to answer her.
"You're going to marry another woman? A woman old enough to be my elder sister? Why?" She asked again hoping he'd give it a thought and change his mind.
She shook his shoulders to get him to speak, "Farooq, look at me, we've been through a lot together, you cannot do this to me, not now," she said weeping as she shook him violently.
"Farooq, why. Why do you want to marry another woman? Why now?" She said hitting his chest, she pushed him away and grabbed her hair, pulling it as she cried, she let out all her built up emotions developed the past year, she began to bite her lip so hard that it started to bleed.
"Faiza," Farooq whispered as he tried to stop her from hurting herself, she pushed him away from herself and stood up angrily, "Stay away from me!
Go and marry whoever you want and give birth to as many children as you want, at least I'll be free from you and your mother's plot," she spat and pushed him out of her room, she locked the room and slid down the door and cried endlessly, she stayed in her room throughout the day and only prayed when it was time, she sat on her bed dejectedly as her heart pumped pain into her bloodstream.

"Faiza," Farooq called out for the umpteenth time as he bit his lip regretfully, he fidgeted with the door handle hoping it would open up, he was getting worried, Faiza refused to leave her room not even to eat some food, he ran his fingers through his hair as he stared at the door.
"Faiza, please let me in," he pleaded and waited for a reply, he sighed in defeat as she didn't answer, he blinked fast as he sat on the ground and opened his phone to check her from the CCTV.
She was sat still on the bed in the exact way he saw her hours ago, the only thing he was sure of was her breathing and her occasional visit to the toilet.
His shoulders dropped as he wondered how to get himself out of the tangled mess he'd gotten himself into.
His mother wouldn't stop nagging at him to marry another woman so they could have babies, and his wife was becoming a ghost before his own eyes.
They had visited different doctors during the first few years of their marriage and all of them had confirmed Faiza's inability to mother a child, she was unable to ovulate and she also had a very weak womb.
But Farooq stayed by her side like a supportive husband and never did he make her feel uncomfortable but his mom's unending words were greatly affecting his view of thing, and even though he wasn't ready to admit; his view on his wife were also changing.
"What are you doing?" Aliyah asked him as she stood with her arms akimbo, he looked up at her and explained to Aliyah who shook her head and tried to pull him up.
"My son, that is how we women behave, she'll come around don't worry, all what I'm doing is for your sake, so that you'll have a child of your own by the time you're old and weak," Aliyah said sweetly and pulled her son into an embrace.
They both returned to the living room and continued in getting to know Arwa, the prospective wife, Aliyah was very satisfied with her especially after she proved she could mother a child through the medical reports.
Faiza opened the door with the hope of meeting her husband outside of her room, she was disappointed and heart shattered when she heard his voice from the living room, she gulped as she headed towards the living room and stood behind the wall where she heard them finalizing the date of the wedding, her eyes burned with hot tears as she rushed back to her room and slammed the door.
Farooq heard the door slam and almost stood up but was held back my his mum, he kept his eyes at the entrance to the living room as he fidgeted with his fingers until the meeting was concluded.
Arwa left soon enough and Farooq went to knock on his wife's room again but she didn't make any move to open the door as usual.
"Faiza, open this door, or I'll break it," he said banging on the door.
"Faiza, I'm not kidding," he said again after a while and waited for a response which he wasn't given.
"I'm sorry but you've left me with no choice," he said and kicked the door with the back of his leg a multiple times until it flew open.
He was greeted with Faiza's fierce eyes with fire burning in them, she charged towards him and pushed him out of her room, Farooq fell on his behind and stared up at Faiza with disbelief, this was the first time she had ever behaved like that and he was even surprised because he never knew she had that kind of strength.
"I don't want to see your face," she spat, he narrowed his eyes at her dangerously and stood up to tower above her, "Suit yourself," he replied and stormed off away from her angrily, she looked to the ground and tried to blink her tears away, she sniffled and walked back towards her bed and wailed. She cried about her mother-in-law, her barrenness, her seemingly failing marriage and the fact that her husband was about to marry someone older than her herself.
She cursed the day she met with her mother-in-law, she cursed she day Aliyah found out about her inability to be a mother and she cursed herself for being an incomplete woman.
Her head started to bang painfully against her skull but that didn't stop her from crying uncontrollably, Farooq promised her he would always be by her side, why the sudden change of plans? She wondered. Sleep engulfed her soon enough and saved her from the agony of the day.-
