*Flashback continues

Farooq pursed his lips as he parked his car and tried to mentally prepare himself for the upcoming two hours of agonizing talks he would have to listen to.
He hated blabbing and blabbers, and he couldn't maintain a conversation with anyone whose profession is to talk and meddle in people's business.

He quickly got out of the car and locked it, he glanced at the side mirror which was filled with dust but he hadn't notice until today; he made sure he didn't look at the mirror nor did he even spare it a glance, ever since the incident last week.

He sighed as he walked away from the car and into the building, he gave his name at the reception and was directed quickly to the therapy room he dreaded.

He knocked twice and entered upon Faiza who offered him a bright smile and urged him to take his seat. And soon enough, as if they were old buddies, she started to talk.

"Mr. Farooq, welcome! I have been expecting you," she said with a smile.

"I saw something I thought would interest you, do you play games?" She asked with raised brows while he frowned in confusion.

What a question, he thought as he shook his head.

"Great, I'll teach you about Rubik's cubes then, have you even heard of it or seen it before?" She asked enthusiastic as she brought out the cube from her bag and showed it to Farooq whose face was etched with confusion.

Why would  he want to sit and play games with a therapist who most likely paid for a fake certificate when he had other important things to do with his time, she most probably didn't even get into school in the first place.

She handed him the cube and brought out another one from her bag and then showed him how to play, a few minutes later, he got the hang of it and began to solve it.

"Now, let's try to solve it together, the first to finish is the winner," she said and they started to solve.

"See our relationship with this cube actually is similar to our relationship with life," she said slyly while he gave no reply.

"If we aren't focused on our goals, it'll be much difficult for us to reach them," she said as Farooq dropped the cube on the desk, all solved.

She clapped her hands and smiled at him, " Exactly what I was talking about, if you weren't so determined, you wouldn't have won against me, even though it was I who thought you,"

"And if I was as determined and focused on my goals, and didn't let talks and other things distract me, I would've most probably won against you, reason being, I am your teacher at this moment and that gives me a great advantage against you," she explained with a small smile, even though Farooq found wisdom in her words, he was still confused on how her simple random talks would help his severe condition.

She picked up the cube and tossed it at him, "First to three wins," she said and started to play.

"What's your plan," she asked after a while as she glanced at Farooq, who was focused on the cube.

"What do you mean? My plan is to beat you," he replied.

She chuckled, "I wasn't talking about that, I was talking about real life, what's your plan?" She asked and waited for a reply, and when he didn't give her any, she picked up again.

"In this life we need to have a plan, this plan -" Farooq slammed the cube on the table and stood up angrily, scrapped the chair on the ground causing it to fall backwards.

Faiza was surprised and stopped what she was doing abruptly to stare up at him, "Oh just shut up!" He said in anger.

You think your pretty little words would stop me from seeing the things I see?"

"Or perhaps stop people from thinking I'm crazy?"

"Well let me tell you in case you don't know, this is real life, and those stupid words don't work, so shut your trap and let's just solve the cube," he fumed as he breathed harshly and picked up the chair to sit again.

Faiza just stared at him calmly and waited for him to calm down before she spoke, she grabbed the cube and tossed it at him which he caught swiftly and started to play again.

His frown started to dissolve as he engrossed himself in the game, a few minutes later he dropped the cube on the desk and gave her a smug look, "First to three," he said.

She clapped for him, "That means you actually have a very good focus for someone who's just playing for the first time ever," she said in encouragement.

"Now what did you notice when you were solving?" She asked.

He shrugged and frowned his face, "I was focused on what I was doing, how do you expect me to notice anything at all?" He questioned back.

"Now this is what I was about to get to before you lashed out on me," she said, pressing her back on her office seat and held her fingers.

"Did you see anything while you were on the game?" She asked him.

His frown began to slowly disappear as he dropped his gaze to the ground, he came into realization, he really didn't notice any thing as he was too focused on the game he was playing.

He went almost 45 minutes without seeing or hearing anything, the longest he'd gone for was probably give minutes since he started to see things. What magic did she use on him.

Her glanced up at Faiza who was still very calm in her poise, she wheeled her chair closer to the desk and placed her hands on the desk.

"If you would trust me and let me do my work, you will be healed in Sha Allah," she said with a shrug and he was shocked and speechless, he didn't have any disputes to what she had said, and it seemed like the only logical thing to do was to agree with her.

"Okay," he replied back to her in a throaty voice.
