Farooq kept on murmuring to himself while Faiza went through the papers over and over again, and each time she did she was more shocked.
"Faiza, she's lying right?" He asked with glossy eyes and Faiza could only stare at him dreadfully not knowing what to say.
"She's not my mother, my mother is long gone, I don't even remember what happened but how can I end up in orphanage home if my mum is alive and living?" He asked and Faiza sighed.
"It happens Farooq, and besides these documents are kind of convincing," she said as she opened the DNA test result.
She sighed again as Farooq shook his head, "No Faiza, I suffered. For years on end! And my mother was alive and probably having the best time of her life?!" He yelled and she stood up immediately to calm him down.
"Calm down love, we really aren't sure what happened," she said and Farooq disagreed.
"I don't care what happened, my mother would have been there if she was alive. I prefer her being dead than showing up at my house at 34 years old!" He yelled and immediately yanked her hands off him and rushed to their room and slammed the door.
Faiza stared at the door in pity for her husband, she couldn't imagine being in his state; he suffered from schizophrenia since he was a kid and he was even robbed off his childhood, he was never like other children, he didn't even remember the first years of his life, he learnt to live in fear for years, until he finally met Faiza. And now that he was finally feeling good, she suddenly appears back in his life.
She sighed once more as she sat on the couch and placed her head on her palms thinking, she opened the DNA test result again and pursed her lips not knowing what to do.
The day Aliyah came to their doorstep, they accepted her in and Faiza offered her food and made her comfortable.
After she was done with the food, Faiza held Farooq's hand instinctively and smiled at him before Aliyah began talking.
She fidgeted a lot and stammered a lot and she wasn't clear with her words until Faiza asked her politely to be straightforward.
"Ma'am, my husband and I really don't understand what you're saying," she said and Aliyah let out a breath.
"There's no easy way to say this and I don't know what will come after this," she said as she lowered her gaze from the couple, Faiza and Farooq shared a confused expression but they decided not to interrupt her.
"I- I... umm... I, uh, I- I," she cleared her throat and shut her eyes and tighten her clasped hands, "I am your mother," she dropped the bombshell and the couple were more confused.
Faiza knows she saw her mother die and buried, and even her sisters were buried next to their mother.
Farooq also was sure his mother was dead, he lived at the orphanage all his life and there was no way she was alive. If his mother was alive, she wouldn't have dropped him at the orphanage."Sorry woman, wrong house," Farooq said dismissively as his heart started to palpitate.
"Farooq Muhsin is your name, right?" She asked startling him and he turned his head sharply to look at her.
"You're not my mother, she's dead," he gritted his teeth emphasizing on the word 'dead', Faiza quickly held his bicep to stop him from saying things he'd be accountable for if she turned out to be his mother.
"Ma, what you say isn't actually possible, his mother died when he was little and he grew up at orphanage, what makes you sure you're his mother?" Faiza asked and Aliyah's eyes lit in hope.
"I am, I am his mother, I brought the necessary evidence and we can go for a DNA test if you want," she suggested and Faiza couldn't agree more with her. The only way to possibly shut the woman up was by proving she wasn't Farooq's mum, but what if she turned out to be?
