Farooq was living like a deceased person, the search was conducted and every time the police call came through, they're words are always the same, "We're sorry we couldn't find her but we will keep the search going,"
His eyes were hollow and his appearance was clearly and definitely unkempt and his attitude was getting on Arwa's nerves and she kept postponing her plan.
The day Farooq went to the police station, Arwa was at home, whinning about the amount of attention he was showing Faiza, although she wasn't even there again.
She had felt like if Faiza left them, she would finally be free with her husband and would have him to herself. She was sure he would notice her and her baby.
Lydia left the guest room and met her daughter in the living room and went to sit with her, and asked her what was wrong. Arwa didn't let another second go by and she explained everything that had been happening, before Aliyah's death and after her death.
"Then it's obvious it's you he likes, when his mother was alive he showed you care and now that's she's dead he suddenly changed? My dear Arwa, it's just a phase and I'm sure he is just in the state of grief and nothing else," she said and Arwa nodded as she assimilated everything she was hearing.
"What you have to do as a wife is to be supportive of him and you should stand by him. And now that the barrier between you and him has left the house for you both, take advantage of the opportunity and make your husband fall in love with you again," she said and Arwa smiled at the thought as she nodded and hugged her mother tightly.
She thanked her for the advice and they continued to talk about ways Arwa could go about their plan.
When he arrived from the police station that day, she was already dressed and caked up, and she hurried to the door to receive him. As he opened the door, she threw herself at him and gave him a hug, then she pecked his cheek and held his hand to walk him to the couch all while he was giving her a look.
She continued like that for the rest of the day and to her dismay, he paid almost no attention to her. She got desperate and determined that she wouldn't stop, so she went to their room and adjusted her cloth, applied more make-up and sprayed a strong cologne on.
She returned to the living room and wore a bright smile, he was still seated on the couch with his head in his palms and she sat next to him then she placed her hands on his back to massage it, "So what did they say at-"
He yanked her hands away and gave her a disgusting look, "Get away from me, I know what games you're playing, stop!" He said with an air of finality.
She frowned and shamefully dropped her hands on her laps, she just watched him wallow in self pity before she spoke up again, "I don't know what games you're talking about, can't I be worried about my co wife?"
"Your co wife my foot!" He yelled as he glared at her with a burning gaze.
"You care about her and your sorry ass is here trying to seduce me? If you were lost, would you have wanted me not to look for you? You selfish thing," he said as he grabbed his car keys, stood up angrily and walked out of the house ignoring her calls and pleading. She ran after him only for him to slam the car door on her face, she stood there dejectedly as she watched him drive away and she bent her head as she returned into the house.
She headed straight to her room and cried herself to sleep and regret. She knew she shouldn't have done that, she was the second option and would always be the second option.
She sniffled as tears dropped from her eyes and she looked at her baby with teary eyes.
'At least he technically said he would look for me if I was lost too, it's not like he'd abandon me,'
