The first thing that Faiza noticed was the heaviness of the wedding cloth, and how uncomfortable the pad she was wearing was. She couldn't sit properly and that stuck to her head more than anything.
She saw people moving about in the hall, while she sat on a sofa away from Farooq's sofa, the Imam sat on a chair between them and was just waiting for the people to settle down.
Rose was wearing the biggest smile as she stood in Faiza's view, almost coming to seat with her if it were allowed.
Jamal was over the moon when Farooq had informed him, even though it was a day before he was informed, he was initially angry Farooq didn't inform him sooner, but how could he be angry for long.
Faiza's co workers were all there, to help her celebrate her happiness and another phase of her life, and the same with Farooq's co workers and his boss.
Faiza finally got a glimpse of the kind man that forced Farooq to come for a therapy session, not even knowing he had unknowingly given her husband to her.
She blushed at he thought and quickly glanced at Farooq who's gaze was on her, she lowered her gaze immediately and shifted a bit in her seat.
"Bismillah, so we're here to celebrate the union of our brother and sister, and in a few minutes we're going to unite them." Imam Nassir began and everyone calmed down and sat in their respective seats.
Faiza began to have cold feet, she shivered lightly as she stared directly into Rose's face, Rose understood the look of fear in Faiza's eyes and she comforted her by nodding at her with a bright smile on her face and bringing up her two thumbs to support her.
Faiza felt a bit relieved, but she couldn't stop feeling scared, she gazed at Farooq who was staring at the Imam and watching all his actions, Farooq looked pretty confused and that made Faiza giggle a bit.
She then started to gaze at the designs of the hall, the hall was heavily decorated and it looked very bright.
And it was segregated into two parts, the male side and the females side, and although it wasn't segregated with a barrier, the space between the table was very wide that no opposite gender can stumble upon the other's side.
She sighed as she wriggled her toes in her overly tight shoes, she silently hissed as her feet was beginning to get numb, and to her surprise, she didn't feel any pressure on her feet when she was getting ready, on her way to the hall, and even when she got to the hall, why then when she already settled and her mind was slowly taking things in.
She sighed yet again as she wondered how she would cope in her marriage, what it they fought? What if she needed advice? Who would she run to? Rose wouldn't always be the answer to her problems despite her being a great person and adviser.
She looked around her and her eyes started to water a bit; every nikkah she'd been too, the parents of both the bride and the groom are always present.
'But where was her mother when she needed her the most?' She sobbed quietly as she turned her head down a bit and dragged her hijab down to cover her face, she would quickly wipe her face as soon as a tear drops so as to not attract any attention.
'Fawziyyah and Farhan won't be attending my wedding, nor would they even have a wedding of theirs,' she sniffled and smiled bitterly.
Her eldest sister would always daydream about her future fairy tale like wedding and would always tell her sisters that she would end up marrying a prince who would sweep her off her feet and take her around the world for honeymoon.
Whereas Farhan was more of a girl who detested weddings and always said boys were disgusting; Faiza chuckled slowly at the memory.
She missed her sisters greatly but missed her mother the most, the woman who would always protect her and her sisters from her monster of a husband, and would always lie to her children that their father loved them and is their protector just so they wouldn't see their father as a bad person.
But it was their protector that destroyed them one after the other, and eventually sent her sisters to the grave with their mother.
She sighed and raised up her head, the Imam was saying a speech and was getting them prepared to be married in a few minutes. She just sat still and wondered if she should panic or be relaxed.
The imam wouldn't recommend her to marry Farooq if he wasn't a good person.
She looked at Rose again for comfort and rose raised up both of her thumbs and grinned at her.
Faiza smiled back and rested her back into the seat, her mind was a little relaxed. And then her mind went to her feet and her soaked pad.
She wondered if everyone had something or the other that made them uncomfortable throughout their wedding day, hers was making her feet numb and putting her in discomfort.
The imam began to read some verses of the Quran and educated the people on what an Islamic wedding was, and after much talks and light jokes, he turned to the groom with a smile and asked him the question.
"Mr. Farooq Muhsin, are you ready to accept Ms. Faiza Ahmad as your lawful wife?"
Faiza looked into Farooq eyes immediately, and as soon as she did, she saw determination in his eyes. She looked away immediately and pursed her lips out of fear and she wondered for the millionth time if she was doing the right thing.
"I accept," he said and the Imam asked two more time and he responded with the same thing.
Faiza began to sweat, she bit her lips as the Imam turned to her, her palms got sweaty and she was in too much shock to move or to even look up to Rose for support.
"Ms. Faiza Ahmad," Faiza's heart skipped a beat as the Imam spoke. Her heart began to throb violently against her chest and she felt her mouth got heavy. Her feet turned cold and she felt instantly numb.
"Do you accept Mr. Farooq Muhsin as your lawful husband?" He asked slowly as he noticed Faiza's fear.
She was deep in thought and was taking too long to answer, she had even forgotten she was delaying until the Imam cleared his throat and smiled at her.
She looked unto Rose and she nodded her head at her with a small smile, she gulped and muttered a faint, "Yes,"
The imam then asked two more times and she answered the same.
And then she rested her back on the couch and bit her lips out of instant fear.
'Oh no! I'm married, there's no going back now.' she sighed as she watched the rest of the program go smoothly aside from her still panicking about how she'd cope and her current discomfort.
