I watch Jack walk over to Tower Sev in my rear view mirror with the stupidest smile on my face.
"Ehm," Soph dramatically clears her throat, and I slowly turn my attention to her in response.
"Wanna tell me what that was all about?" She asks facing her body towards mine and tucking her legs to her chest, showing me I have her undivided attention.
"Well. I was driving to Ryder's and coincidentally pulled up next to Jack-"
"I know asshole, I was there! I'm talking about the other part." Soph whines.
"We're.. well. We are friends." I say not sure if I'm trying to convince Soph what I said is true or myself.
"Oh please." She replies rolling her eyes. I giggle at her response because we both know every word that will come out of my mouth during this conversation is bullshit.
"I'm trying to think of the right word." I reply sarcastically tapping my lip and searching around the car.
"What! Do you want a fucking dictionary?" She exclaims throwing her arms up in defeat.
"Acquaintances? Familiar with one another? I don't know, Dyl!" I reply uncontrollably laughing. "All I know is that I need to stop."
"Stop? What?"
"Talking to him. Feeding into his stupid game." I reply looking back at the rear view and watching him laughing with the guys at the lifeguard tower.
I smile at the way he throws his head back when he laughs and I know if I was in front of him right now, I'd be staring at his dimples and eye lines like they we're the best thing I've ever seen.
"See this is what I'm talking about!" I whine in annoyance.
Soph looks at me confused waiting for me to continue. "Jack is not long term. It's fun while it lasts, and then he'll get bored and jump to a new girl. Kai on the other hand, long term. See what I'm getting at?" I ramble.
Soph's face looks even more confused than before my rant, which just makes me feel stupid for even stressing about this.
"Aug, you sound silly. Have you seen Jack talk to one girl since he's been here?"
"Well, no. But his reputation in Santa Monica-"
"Cut the bachelorette bullshit. You're creating a whole love triangle and you don't even realize it!" I sink in to her words because I know she's right.
With that said, I'm not going to listen to her, regardless if she is or not.I'm just that delusional.
"Renna! Tanner! You haven't stopped talking about the girls for the past forty-five minutes!" Miles shouts from the tower.
"I'm in love with your daughter." Caden shouts back.
