Quackity's POV
Wilbur went to take a bath and so did I, using the other bathroom near Dream's room while the idiot mentioned used the guest's bathroom. While showering, I searched through all the memories of these past few days, desperately trying to find a hint that I wasn't in a one-sided love. Wilbur fainted, Wilbur not flinching when I held his wrists, me giving him CPR-
My eyes snapped open, wide and panicked as my heart raced. What if someone tells him that I gave him mouth-to-mouth? Would he be disgusted?
"Oh no, oh no," I muttered frantically, almost slipping and falling down. I steadied myself, my palm flat against the wall. I don't want to be a second case of Fall-down-and-you-become-sleeping-beauty.
But this time, the patient would be naked when found. Imagine if Wilbur was the one who barged in when I didn't respond to his voice that would get more panicked and frantic by the minute, that he'd see my naked body collapsed on the floor.
I shook my head to snap out of it. I need to get control of my thoughts.
I finished taking my shower and changed into some clothes. A T-shirt that read 'big q here' in robotic letters and a pair of jeans.
I didn't think I could put on my beanie because my feathers were soggy and my hair was wet, so it'd ruin my beanie. So I stuffed my beanie in the pocket of my jeans and walked out to the living room, rustling my wings slightly as I went.
George noticed me first as he talked to Karl and Sapnap. He gawked in amazement. "Quackity, your beanie -it's gone!" he exclaimed. "I can't exactly put the beanie on while my hair's soaking wet, can I?" I laughed.
Tommy grinned. "Nice hair, Q!" he called out as he play tug-of-war with Tubbo, trying to take a cushion. "No, Tubbooo, the cushion is mine!"
Wilbur was already there, laughing and talking with Dream. He turned around and saw me, my wings flapping nervously, flustered at Wilbur's gaze on me.
He slowly walked up to me. "Where's your beanie?" he asked me in a scratchy voice that made his voice deeper. His voice was probably scratchy because of laughing with Dream. Anyways, the tone made me flush slightly. "I-I can't wear it right now, my hair's still wet," I smiled, trying not to think about how his eyes were the colour of charcoal and how his hair partly hid it and how now, he quirked his lip at my stutter.
"Just to let you know," he paused, then leaned down and whispered in my ear. "You look cute without a beanie on."
I blushed and averted my gaze, looking down at my feet. He walked back to Dream and sat down beside him, picking up where they'd left off, laughing and jesting.
Karl waved me over and I walked over to him, Sapnap and George, who were all grinning knowingly. "Sit down, Quackity. Here, next to George," Sapnap said.
I sat down, knowing what was coming next. Sure enough, I was right.
"So what was that exchange with you and Wilbur?" George raised an eyebrow, smirking. "Nothing," I sighed. "If it's nothing, do tell us," Karl urged.
"It was nothing! He just asked me where was my beanie, then I told him I couldn't wear it. Then..." I stopped and looked at the three's knowing faces, then blurted it out. "Then he said I looked cute without it."
Sapnap smiled, leaning down on the sofa and folding his arms. "So? What'd you feel about it?"
"I-I didn't feel anything," I fibbed. "Didn't seem like it when your cheeks went red and you avoided his eyes," George remarked.
"It was nothing, honest!" I protested. "I was blushing because I wasn't used to getting compliments about my hair and I was flattered-" I stopped.
"Oh! Flattered?" Karl closed his eyes, pretended to think very hard, then spoke again. "You know, all these signs point to you having a little crush on Wilbur. You know that?"
