Sapnap's POV
I reached George's room and tried opening his door, but it was locked. "George?" I said, furiously rattling the doorknob. "George!"
After a pause, the door creaked open and I impatiently flung it open, coming face to face with George, whose tear-streaked face was looking at the floor. His eyelashes had drops of tears and I realized, with a pang of pity, that he also had been crying.
OK, the scolding tactic wasn't the best idea now.
"George, what happened?" I asked, gentler now, guiding George back onto his bed, where he was evidently laying on before I arrived.
"Does Dream h-hate me?" George sniffed, his eyes wide and sad as he turned to me like a distraught child seeking comfort.
"No, no! Dream could never hate you!" I exclaimed. "Why do you think that?"
Usually, when George and Dream had an argument, they would swiftly go back to being friends in minutes. At most, it took an hour, and it was when George cracked and sought out a regretful Dream. But now, things were different, since George was part-cat now, and heavily attached to Dream.
"Dream was h-here with me just now when I was talking to Quackity and- and Wilbur, then he said he was going to the bathroom but he wasn't back after ten minutes so I went down to find him and saw him resting on the sofa and I got mad-" George sobbed out. "B-But I shouldn't have gotten mad because it was all my fault and I should've let Dream have some time to himself-"
"George, it's not entirely your fault," I shushed. "Dream is also at fault; he shouldn't have lied to you. Do you wanna go find him and talk it out?" Why did I feel like a parent comforting two toddlers?
"He'll hate me m-more," George snuffled, tears springing up again.
"No, he won't," I said patiently. "Go wash your face. It's all sticky with tears."
After George splashed his face with some water in his bathroom, I took him to Dream, who had relocated to the kitchen island, where a glass of water was in his hand.
"Dream?" I spoke softly. "George is here."
They locked eyes and then looked away again, but both pairs of eyes were filled with self-blame. "Talk it out, guys," I said, then backed away slowly. "Call me if I'm needed."
George's POV
Awkward silence reigned as me and Dream just stared at each other.
"Did I not give you enough space?" I started the conversation timidly. "I'm sorry..."
"I- I'm sorry too," Dream fiddled with the glass of water in his hands. "I should've told you I wanted space, not lie to you."
"Forgiven?" I reached out a hand to Dream, who smiled slightly and took it. "Forgiven."
I stared at my hand in Dream's, noting how well our hands fit together. His fingers were perfect for me to hold, his fingertips reaching the base of my thumb.
My eyes wandered from our hands to his arm, to his neck, and I wondered how it'd feel like to see marks on that temptingly blank canvas of collarbones. I took in how his eyes were a bright golden-grey to me, and how he was smiling at me in a way that made me blush.
"George?" Dream spoke, snapping me out of my thoughts. "You're staring."
"Oh- umm, s-sorry, Dream-" I stammered, pulling my hand out of his grip and immediately feeling lost without his touch.
"No, I don't mind," Dream smiled. "You can stare."
Dream's POV
"Goodnight, George," I sleepily mumbled, turning around in my bed to get comfortable.
"G'night, Dream," George's voice floated out of the darkness.
After a few seconds, silence was broken again. "Do you hate me?"
"H-Hate you?" I said, taken aback by the insecure question. "Why would I?"
"I know we've forgiven each other, but you surely still feel a little mad, right? Like... you hate me or something?" George whispered, a sad, barely audible meow followed after.
"George! I could never hate you!" I exclaimed. "Never say that again!"
Even though he said nothing, I knew he was smiling as he quietly got out of his bed and walked the few steps it took to get to my bed. He lay down next to me, snuggling his head into my chest, his cat ears touching my neck, tail rested over my legs.
I wrapped my arms around him and he shifted a bit, his face moving up so his lips brushed against my neck.
" 'night, Dream," he murmured.
"G-Goodnight," I responded, my heart racing.
I woke up to the faint sound of chirping birds. I grabbed my phone to check the time and it showed that it was fifteen minutes to eleven.
I decided to scroll through my phone to pass the time until the brunette awoke. After a while, George shifted and I looked up from my phone to say, "Morning."
George simply just groaned and curled up more, tucking his head into the crook of my neck. "Wha' time is it?" he asked, his voice raspy. "Eleven," I answered, watching him slowly process that one word, his morning voice making me flush.
"One more ho'r," George muttered, closing his eyes.
"Get up, George," I nudged him, and he opened his eyes again to frown at me pleadingly.
Say no, say no, say no.
"Please?" George pouted at me adorably.
"Fine, one more hour," I gave in.
How could anyone ever say no to that face?
Sapnap's POV (we started this chapter off with Sapnap, and we're ending it with him)
I woke up at ten, hunger pangs wracking my stomach. My mouth was dry and I squinted from the brightness of the sun. Fumbling for my phone beside me and turning it on to check the time, I blinked hard to make out the words on the screen. Fourteen minutes past ten.
I yawned, sitting up and rubbing my eyes. I got out of bed and headed to the kitchen, wanting to find something to eat and drink.
As I passed by George and Dream's room, I remembered their argument from yesterday, and how fast they'd made up.
I wonder if they're sleeping separately or sleeping in the same bed?
Curiosity overtook me and I gently pushed their door open. The first thing I registered was that George's bed was cold and undented, indicating he hadn't slept in it at all.
Then I noticed him and Dream on the latter's bed, George's tail lightly curled around Dream's legs. Dream's arms were loosely wrapped around the brunette's body, and his head was tilted down toward George's head.
I got out my phone and snapped a picture. With a grin on my face, I shut the door and continued on my way to the kitchen to seek out some food.
