Miguel slowly opened the door to his house. It was dark out and in, besides for a warm and inviting light coming from the direction of the living room. Miguel navigated towards it, quietly as if worried any noise would send the roof tumbling down over head. He knocked softly on the hard wood.

"Yes?" He heard Bens Voice call from behind it.

Miguel took a breath before opening it properly.

"Hey Gaby, hey Ben." It took everything in him to keep a somewhat believable toothless smile on his face.

"Papa!" Gabriella jumped up from where she had been sitting drawing with Ben and gave her father a grand hug in which he accepted to the fullest extent.

"Hey sweetie." He knew he sounded drained, but he was doing his best to keep composure.

Ben took it as he que to leave and Miguel gave him a curt nod as he left as a thanks of sorts.

"Papa?" Gabriella said looking up at her father, "what happened?"

Miguel swallowed hard. He was so unsure of how to break it to her. He felt as if he had a strange lack of words ever since Peter left him.

"Peter, isn't going to be with us anymore." Miguel felt himself choking up. He looked at the ceiling to keep the tears from falling from his eyes in front of his daughter.

"What happens now, Papi?" She whispered against him.

"I, I don't Gaby. I guess we will just have to go back to the way we were living before him." Miguel's breath hitched during the last sentence and Gabriella looked up at him.

"Oh papa." She hugged him tighter.

He put a comforting hand on her back and held her close as if he was just about to loose her too. She then gently pulled away and told him to sit down on the couch, so Miguel naturally did just that. Gabriella came back moments later with a blanket, her favorite stuffed animal, and guitar all balanced in her hands. She set the guitar and stuffed animal down, unfolded the blanket and places it over Miguel. She then grabbed the well loved stuffed cat and handed it to him. She picked up the guitar and settled down next to him.

"This is what you do when I'm sad, so I wanna do it for you now." She smiled at him. "I got my bestest stuffy, my best most softest blanket, and your guitar." She aired proudly. Miguel couldn't help but smile at her.

"Thank you." He whispered.

"What should I sing?" She asked her father.

"I'm not sure, whatever you want." Miguel urged rather unhelpfully.

"Ok!" She chirped.

Miguel guessed Ben had already told her about Peter but she still wanted Miguel to tell her so she acted as if she didnt know. But at this moment, it seem relatively clear that she had already had time to digest it. Miguel closed his eyes and enjoyed his daughters singing, drifting off to sleep.

Miguel had been arriving to HQ much later than he was supposed to, because without the help of Peter, he had to get Gabriella to school in the morning before heading to HQ which always ended up adding at least an extra thirty minutes. Once at HQ he shut himself away in his office. He didn't come out for anyone. He reasoned that if anyone wanted to talk to him, they could come to him instead. Otherwise, he spent his time busying himself in front his monitors. He didn't break for lunch. He didn't really need to. And without Peter, it would've meant that he would've had to leave his office and socialize. Half of the time he forgot about eating, and the other half he felt he just didn't have it in him to eat. Besides, he was busy. He had anomalies to look out for. He feverishly checked every screen and recorded every action and every reaction the anomaly had before sending either a single spider or a few to go and by rid of them. Previously he hadn't been doing all the extra work, but now that he had taken on the extra task he found that the success rate was a great deal higher.

Miguel reached for the drawer beside him and pulled out his injector once more. He had already used it twice that day, but a third time wouldn't hurt. Besides, it kept him busy. He didn't care that he was spiraling back into his addiction. It wasn't hurting anyone.

Anyone but himself.

He plunged the gun into his arm with little relief.

Lyla then piped up from no where, "Miguel, you should really go lighter on the rapture. Your undoing all the work you and Peter put in."

"Don't mention his name." Miguel shot daggers and the hologram who put her hands up in surrender.

"Hey, how do you think this is going to be benefiting you? You're shutting yourself away and nobody can get to you."

"Ever think thats maybe the point?" Miguel grumbled, shoving the rapture into the droor rather forcefully.

"Its making your eyes go back to red." Lyla mumbled cautiously.

"I doubt that. But still, get out of here." Miguel avoiding eye contact with her, letting her know how little he valued her presence at the moment.

"Rodger that." She saluted him and she left.

As soon as she was our of sight, Miguel lowered his platform and headed straight for the personal bathroom he had installed in his space. He flicked on the over head light, he squinted at the bright light before bringing a hand to his face and lifting his eyelid slightly.

Lyla was right. The eyes that were brown had changed to a rusty red. It wasnt as noticeable as it had been in the past, but none the less Miguel didn't like to see it.

Just then, Miguel heard a knock come from outside the bathroom door. He rolled his eyes. What did they need now? Granted, nobody had disturbed him truly since the day "it" happened.

"Hold on!" He yelled out in annoyance.

He quickly slammed the bathroom door shut and opened the door. He was greeted by the sympathetic face of none other than Peter B Parker himself. And in his arms, he carried three empanadas.
