Miguel was quick to try and slam the door in Peters face and was unfortunately unsuccessful when Peter shot his leg out to block the door from shutting completely. It slammed rather harshly into his foot making him wince comicly in pain.
"Ouch! A man tries to bring a friend some food and he nearly gets his foot chopped off in return!" Peter stated dramatically.
"Not in the mood, Parker." Miguel grumbled retreating back into his dark room.
Peter, of course, followed him in.
"What are you not in the mood for? Me or the empanadas?"
"Both." Miguel shot without an ounce of humor.
Peter tossed an empanada at Miguel which he unfortunately did not catch and it fell to the floor.
"Right no spidey Sense." Peter Said tapping the side of his head.
"Did you come here to ridicule me? Because I don't have time for it Parker." Miguel said weakly.
He didn't have the energy for Peter B and he wanted to drive that home to him. He began busying himself with his monitors again, flipping from screen to screen. Somewhere behind him Peter has managed to get all cozied up on Miguel's couch.
"The place is a mess man. You might want to think about giving it a good old clean" Peter said taking it upon himself to eat one of Miguel's empanadas for him.
"What did I say a few minutes ago Parker?" Miguel's claws dug into the desk in front of him. His patience already stretched thin without the help of the infamous Peter B Parker.
"You said something about how I should ridicu-"
"That wasn't an invitation for you to repeat it." Miguel snapped, cutting him off.
After that, the room was quiet. The way Miguel had become accustomed to it. It was a kind of sad silence. Neither of them wanted to speak or knew what to say. Miguel did his best to ignore Peter, and Peter did his best to keep an eye on Miguel, per Jess's orders.
Peter watched Miguel as his fingers busily tapped away at the screens in front of him. It occurred to Peter that he didn't actually know much about what Miguel did other than that he was the "big boss man" and that he wasn't overly friendly like the rest of the Spidermen. Peter had noticed how tense Miguel was while he worked. His shoulders never left their place close to Miguel's ears. He felt bad for Miguel, he really did. He just didn't really know how to help him was the truth of the matter. The other Peter was the one who knew how to handle Miguel. He did it perfectly. Peter B, not so much. He never actually knew just how much Peter had meant to Miguel until he was gone. HQ, even with Miguel not ever being present, was extremely tense. He worried about Miguel and what his state was like considering he locked himself away for hours on end and went out on difficult missions on his own, often coming back beat and battered beyond what the rest of them would've come back looking like if they went out as a group. And judging by the state of Miguel's office, his mental health was suffering. There we piles of papers, towers of mugs, and even clothes strune across many of the surfaces. And Miguel wasnt one to let a place get messy let alone dirty. He had also picked up on the dramatic change in Miguel's physical state. The poor man looked like he hadn't slept in days. Scratch that, he probably hadn't. Peter remembered Miguel telling their little group about his insomnia and how having Peter with him had actually helped significantly. And now that Peter wasn't there to keep him warm and hold him tight in a sweet embrace, the bags under his eyes reached down to the tip of his upturned nose, the skin under his eyes were relatively grey as well. He lost a substantial amount of weight making his cheek bones even more prominent. Peter noted how it looked like he was about to feint at any moment. Peter was prepared to attempt to catch him if he ever did of course. He was then ripped from his thoughts by Miguel's tired voice.
"Why are you still here?"
"Just keeping my favorite Miguel company!"
"Don't call me that." He growled.
"Say please!"
"No." Miguel brought a hand to between his brow and massaged it.
"Parker, I'm serious. Why are you here?"
"I was equally as serious!" Peter said getting up from the couch and going over to Miguel.
"I want to help you." He put a reassuring hand on Miguel's shoulder, which made Miguel tense up even more. Not his best move, Peter B noted.
"Does it look like I need help?" Miguel snarled.
Peter shot his hands up in the air in defense and Miguel flinched, his claws even coming out for a moment.
"Yea! It really does look like you need help! You're pretty much drowning on land!" Peter shouted at Miguel.
"Well how the hell do you expect to help me!" Miguel yelled back, teeth bared.
"Thats what I want you to tell me!" Peter brought a hand over his eyes and then down the rest of his face. My god was Miguel a piece of work that nobody but Peter wanted to work on.
Miguel sighed a long deep sigh before answering the frantic Peter B.
"Could you maybe pick up Gabriella from school and take her to my house during the week?" Miguel gelt rather embarrassed about having to ask for such a favor.
"On one condition." Peter B said, raising a pointer finger.
"Good god Peter. You offer to hel-"
"You say please."
Miguel rolled his eyes and muttered something along the lines of please.
"Sorry, what?" Peter said blinking profusely.
"I said, please." Miguel mumbled at a slightly louder volume.
"Perfect thank you! When does she get out?"
"Three. Its two twenty now, so I recommend you get going soon." Miguel just needed him out of his hair at this point.
"Give me your address and I'll be good as gone."
"21 Vanity Lane."
"Thats quite the name." Peter chuckled.
"Yeah. Now, get out of here."
Peter B nodded and finally, to Miguel's sweet relief, left.
